The eight types of edema have been explained, ending the twelfth chapter. Now, the symptoms of white leprosy, carbuncles, and fire poison diseases will be explained, which is the thirteenth chapter. Regarding white leprosy, as previously mentioned, spicy, sour, and salty foods, etc., especially provoke bile diseases, leading to an aggravation of bile. Bile resides in the heart, and under the influence of wind, it spreads into the ten major vessels, then disperses throughout the body. If it enters and harms the phlegm, skin, blood, and muscles, the bile relies on and resides in the muscles and skin, causing the skin color to change, appearing white, yellow, or bluish-green, which is called white leprosy. Because white is the majority among these three colors, it is called white leprosy. Therefore, this disease causes the body to be heavy, the vital essence to weaken, and luster and merits to disappear. Blood and fat also decrease, the body becomes weak, the essence of the body also disappears, the senses also become dull, and the limbs of the body feel like they have been beaten. The patient feels weak, as if the heart is about to fall out. The eyes and eye sockets are swollen, feeling weak and sinking, with much saliva, a small voice, unable to speak much, anorexia, unable to tolerate cold, weakened digestive power, the lower part of the waist feels sinking and heavy, as if struck by plague, difficulty breathing, ears ringing, hearing squeaking sounds, abdominal discomfort, and dizziness. The general symptoms of white leprosy are like this. White leprosy also has five types: caused by wind, caused by bile, caused by phlegm, caused by a combination, and caused by eating substances like earth oil. The initial symptoms of white leprosy are rapid heartbeat, rough skin, loss of appetite, yellow urine color, no residue, weak digestive power, feeling weak and heavy, and abdominal discomfort.
