If the essence is not diminished, once harmed, the seven vital essences will be harmed and depleted one after another. Therefore, the essence of food, transformed into essence and then diminished, will provoke any disease of wind, bile, or phlegm. When wind, bile, and phlegm are disturbed within the body, they will harm the seven vital essences. When the seven vital essences are uncomfortable, they will turn into diseases that harm excrement such as feces and urine. It will turn into harm from bodily waste. Diseases of bodily waste, including the two types of excrement that come out from below, as well as the seven types of excrement that come out from the head, ears, nose, eyes, and mouth, these nine types of excrement and the dust that comes out from the body, these excrements each come out from their own place, and they will all turn into diseases. Therefore, among the seven vital essences, up to semen and so on, the essence taken from food and transformed into essence is the most important among the seven vital essences. The so-called "essence point," although it exists clearly and brightly like a drop of water in the heart, it pervades the body and remains firmly in the body. How is this so? The so-called "essence point" is that once that drop of water that exists in the heart disappears, one will surely die. When the essence point is in the heart, a person will not die either. If the life essence of the essence point is stable, the bodies of various kinds of sentient beings can also exist. The essence point is exhausted and disappears because of hunger in the heart, sadness in the heart, and doing tiring and exhausting things, the essence point will be exhausted and disappear. If there is no such essence point in the body, the signs of exhaustion are: blue veins appearing, the heart being disturbed, always being fearful and hateful, the body being stiff, the mind being listless, and always thinking repeatedly. The senses such as the eyes and ears weaken, the complexion becomes haggard, and becomes pale and dull. The inside of the body is rough and uncomfortable, the mind is dazed, and if the heart is unhappy, it means that the essence point is exhausted and gone. For someone who has become like this, the method of treatment is: giving medicine, food, milk, and nutrients, etc. Or, giving food in combination with the symptoms of the disease, if one does not want to eat beneficial food, but wants to eat other unsuitable food, the doctor should not give food that is not suitable for the disease.

One. If food is beneficial for the disease and there are no contraindications, then give what is desired. Alternatively, the diseases and contraindicated foods of all patients may become inverted and disordered. Some people desire food that is beneficial for the disease and is in accordance with their preferences. In such cases, are the disease and food compatible or incompatible? Food is given based on the condition of the disease and the signs of compatibility or incompatibility. Furthermore, all who are not clever or wise do not contemplate or consider the goals of what is beneficial for the body and strengthens it, and what is harmful to the patient and consumes the body. If the roots of individual diseases such as wind, bile, and phlegm arise and become the power of the disease, then the disease spreads in the body, the vitality of physical well-being decreases and is consumed, and the root of the disease enters. Moreover, none of the wind, bile, and phlegm exists in isolation. If these three are compatible with the disease and become balanced, then the three will only complete their daily tasks. Therefore, the compatibility and balance of wind, bile, and phlegm are beneficial for the body, bringing health and happiness, and enhancing the body's vitality. The incompatibility and imbalance of wind, bile, and phlegm lead to disease and are regarded as targets to be eliminated. Therefore, in order to benefit the body, so that the body is not consumed by the harm of disease, for benefit and health, for the permanence of the body, rituals and offerings should be performed, and the body should be protected. Due to the incompatibility of wind, bile, and phlegm, the body will be harmed and consumed. If wind, bile, and phlegm are compatible and balanced, then the body will be healthy and beneficial. Chapter Eleven, which explains how to become disease-free, is complete. Now, Chapter Twelve will be discussed, regarding where phlegm, bile, and wind are located in the body, and what kind of diseases will arise from wind, phlegm, and bile.
