Like sound. Here, the sound of "fire" in "fire" is, having the first ending, contrary to the result. Although it changes here, the connection is explained only through the distinction of the place of basis, so it will become the sixth fallacy. Why is that? If that is the case, when "sound is impermanent" is the combination of dharma and dharmins, etc., with the first ending, what is the one with distinctions? When "fire" is mentioned here, it is not to be understood that the object of support and supported needs to be proven. Then what is it? It is only fire. That connection is also because it is being proven in the place, so that collection needs to be proven. One's own dharma is not what is expressed, meaning the nature of the connection is the connection, because the nature of the thing expresses that connection with the sound of connection, so the thing should also be inferred through other connected things, so the question "what is the other connected thing" arises, as well as the question "what is the connection of what?". After that, only the connected thing will change there, meaning the connected thing cannot be expressed with its own nature. Like that, it is also not to be inferred, so it is said to contradict the promise. Because one wants to make the words of the tenet as what can establish, one promises that the object of inference is what is expressed, and that connection is what needs to be inferred, so it declines. If it cannot be expressed with sound, then how will it be understood at that time? The answer is, it is explained through meaning. When "fire" is said here, the place should be understood through sound with the basis object of fire. If there is something with fire, then the vast place can become the basis, so only that should be understood. The one with it cannot be understood because it has intervals, so it should be said to be explained through meaning, because the basis enabler should be guided by its own result. Then, if that is the case, will it only become what needs to be inferred? What one wants to express is the entry outside of the need to be proven itself of the sign of smoke, etc. If it is not that all those with signs need to enter outside of the need to be proven itself, then there is no contradiction. Any result that needs to be inferred is the connection.

Moreover, the "severance" that is spoken of is for the sake of inferring through its own fruit, and not for the sake of inferring through signs such as smoke. It will be said here: Even if we assume there is a connection, it should only be inferred through its own fruit, and not through other things such as smoke. What is said is that it cannot be inferred through smoke. As for "from the previous reasons," isn't there also two kinds of connection? The sixth (connection) is what can be heard, and it is related to the possessor. As for "not the thing to be said," it arises from these (reasons). This is also not a connection with the sign. As for "without it, it will not arise," it means that because of the connection that has the nature of not arising without it, it is not a connection with the sign. If it is not well shown what does not arise without what, then it cannot be inferred through it, just as one would infer water through smoke. Smoke is also not well shown to not arise without connection. It should be pervaded by contradiction. If it is not well shown, then other meanings are not its fruit, and there is no not arising without it. Through "without this" and so on, uncertainty is spoken of. "Other" refers to all places, such as general fences and so on. So, what meaning does it show? For example, when one wants to prove that there is fire in a certain place, for the sign of smoke and so on that has been well established, with the dharma of fire and so on, and with what does not arise without it, and with the subject of the dharma such as the ground that is related to it, it will be understood, that is the meaning like this. As for "in other places," it refers to the place that has smoke. As for "in other places" and so on, this word "other places" refers to the subject of the dharma to be proven, such as the ground. As for "even if only smoke is seen," this word "only" means that the seeing of fire is cut off, meaning even if fire is not seen. Or, the word "only" shows that even if the concomitance of the subject of the dharma is not shown. This is the meaning of summary, even when the subject of the dharma that is the particularity of the subject of the dharma is to be inferred, it should be well shown in places such as fences, what smoke does not exist, and what does not arise without it, that is, the ground and fire are together.
