It is done like that. That is the difference in aspect, meaning 'different'. Saying 'difference' also emphasizes understanding the negation of non-difference. By this very nature of various kinds, it is not to be understood, because the external is non-existent merely due to conceptualization. Therefore, this will become clear, because for direct perception, there is an external object, from which the appearance of that object becomes clear, but not for inference. Whatever aspect of the object is unclear, that arises only from the power of its own seed. Therefore, direct perception and inference, as stated, have different entities. Alternatively, the object to be measured by direct perception is the self-characteristic that appears directly and clearly, which generates its own aspect, i.e., by its own entity. Inference, on the other hand, is only through that, generating the aspect of an unclear object, i.e., to be measured by the entity of another. Some say that direct perception is also by the entity of another. Thus, because the objects of direct perception and inference are different, from the difference of nature, merely by the appearance of clear and unclear objects, their own entities are also different. If so, why is it that only inference is divided into two types by the difference of self-benefit and other-benefit, and not direct perception? This shows the clinging to that. It will be said thus: whatever word is for the sake of others understanding the meaning done by one's own direct perception, why is it not desired that it be a second, a direct perception of other-benefit? Because of what, etc., the object of inference is the general characteristic, and for that, how one infers for oneself, the same is done by words in the continuum of others, therefore it should be of two types. The object of direct perception is the self-characteristic, and for that, how one's own direct perception knowledge is, in that way, sound is not able to generate in other continuums, because that is not something that can be indicated. Otherwise, for the blind and others, only such an aspect clearly appears from sound.

will be known. Why should it not be taught? It is said: Because the objects of apprehension are different. Because the object of apprehension of direct perception is not common, it is also not possible to state it definitively, because it has not been seen before. Inference is the opposite of this, therefore only its object of apprehension should be stated definitively, but not that of direct perception. As its own nature, this clarifies that the natures of direct perception and inference are different, and this is to be known by each individual. Even the arising of those that follow the aspect of their own object is not possible in the absence of different objects. Therefore, just as their own natures are different, so too should their objects be regarded as different. Therefore, the object of direct perception must be stated, unlike that of inference. Others say that due to the fear of the decline of sectarian combinations, what is to be said later is said earlier here, therefore this treatise should be understood in this way. Someone asks, why is it that only inference is divided into two types, but not direct perception? The answer is given: Because the objects of apprehension are different, and so on. If inference is divided into two types because the objects of apprehension are different, then direct perception should also be divided into two types. The answer is given: The own-characteristic is not to be shown. It will be explained in this way: This kind of object of apprehension of direct perception and inference is what people desire, where one is to be stated definitively, and the other is not to be stated definitively. Therefore, only inference is divided into two types, because its object can be understood by others through language. Direct perception is not. Then, are meaning and own-being the same or not? Does this mean that the difference of the objects of valid cognitions etc. has already been established before? Compared to the difference, the own-being is also different, so why is this placed close by? Direct perception and inference, as their own nature, the objects of apprehension are different, and so on. If asked in this way, then the former is in relation to another meaning.
