That is the lineage, only the third way is reasonable for the distinctions of self-nature, result, and non-manifestation, but not for the others. This is also not included in those, then from what would this become excessive? This is said to show that the other, the sign, is the second way. A dharma of a subject of dharma that is not understood, existing only in dharma, where it should be known and placed into knowledge, this is the reason, which has establishment and refutation. The dharma that is not understood is what is desired to be known, such as impermanence. The hair of the subject of dharma, etc. Where it should be known is on the dharma of being made, etc. What is already known is what can be obtained. Existing only means that the one who measures himself remembers himself for the vase, etc. Or remembered by others, that is, for inference for the sake of others. Existing only and not non-existing, these are establishment and refutation, where it exists, that is what has establishment and refutation, that is, the reason. This is the nature of the dharma of the subject of dharma, and existence is the nature of what is to be established, this is said to be the second way. If the dharma to be established exists only where it is, saying not non-existing, then it will only express having concomitance and contradiction, because in that way it will only exist there, and if it does not exist, then the reason will necessarily not change. Therefore, only the third way is expressed in other ways, so the reason is not the second way. The reason has six characteristics, the others, that is, these three and the harmless object, and the uniqueness of the number to be expressed, and the knownness. Among them, for the time being, the harmless object is not another way, because harm and non-arising without it are contradictory. Non-arising without it is that the reason exists only where the dharma to be established exists, then how can the reason with that characteristic become a subject of dharma, and this will also become without the dharma to be established. Therefore, harm and non-arising without it do not arise simultaneously. Therefore, the harmless object is the way of

It is not a fault. Because there is no need to distinguish, the very singularity of the number one that one wants to express is not to be expressed as another characteristic. This should be said for the purpose of avoiding falling into a self-contradictory and non-confusing reason itself. When reasons that possess their own characteristics gather together contradictions on one thing, they become self-contradictory and non-confusing. As mentioned before, for characteristics such as result, nature, and non-perception, there cannot be contradictory reasons. Because the only thing exists only on what it proves itself, so it is not confusing. Moreover, it itself also exists only on what can harm other things, so it may also contradict that thing. Furthermore, if the reason possesses that dharma only because of its own nature, then even if other meanings are close, how can it become another form? The nature of things becoming another form, and the nature of two contradictions, are also impossible. If the nature does not possess that dharma, then even at other times, it will not become proof of anything. Therefore, for the reason that, as mentioned before, cannot be proven if its own nature does not appear, there cannot be a contradictory reason to its characteristic. Therefore, the singularity of the number one that one wants to express is not a characteristic. If it is said that one will fall into the fault of not expressing self-contradiction and non-confusion, then since the sign itself caused by the power of things is not recognized, there is no fault. Because the object here will also be understood by others. If knowledge is not the dharma of the sign, how can it be the characteristic of the sign? Sentient beings ask: From what kind of sign essence can one understand the meaning? The non-deceptive nature of the understander should be expressed as a method. From what is seen, distinguish what can prove and what cannot prove, and then enter from believing that it can prove the meaning one wants to express. Among them, the essential nature of this sign itself is the characteristic, not other essences. If merely being close to the arising of understanding is its characteristic, then it is too much.
