Specifically, here, the reasoning has been clarified regarding what becomes, as stated in "becoming a valid means of cognition." When establishing the pervasion of the reason that will be explained, one should also recite the verse in this way: If a thing changes at the time of its function, then it is impermanent. If it does not exist, then it is not a thing, and all functions are abandoned. This is the first complete negation. It has already been explained that only these two, direct perception and inference, are valid means of cognition. Now, in order to explain inference, which is appropriate for the occasion, it is said, "Inference is twofold," and so on. The direct meaning is, by what does one oneself realize? The meaning for others is, by what does one cause others to realize? Then, is it not the case that the definition for others should be stated separately? Because only through establishing the nature of making understandable, it is only for showing the order of words of the one who wants to realize, otherwise, if expressed manifestly in another way, it will not make the Dharma of making understandable very clear. If someone says, those who truly understand this meaning and know the words, when realizing it, do not need to rely on other repeated instructions. This is true, but even so, this is composed for the sake of children to be able to realize. Those who realize things as they are also see it expressed in other ways, because it is necessary not to express what cannot arise without it, and it is also necessary to establish what is not necessary, and it is for combining the initial guidance and the final conclusion. From the three modes, like the fifth on the cause, like sound from striking. Or like wiping the hand, like climbing to the top of a building and looking is like looking at the building, so seeing the thing after seeing the sign with three modes is seeing the thing from the sign with three modes. Then, saying having three modes is meaningless, because not having three modes is not a sign. Furthermore, the unclear thing is realized as a sign by this, so it is a sign, and it is impossible without the three modes. Because from this, the meaning that has already been understood can also be realized, so one should not say "from having three modes." This is not a fault, because the three modes

Some (people) also consider that what is not (pervasive) is also a reason. Therefore, in order to dispel the inverted understanding of this, the third aspect is explained. To this, the fearless (one) said: Whatever state of not allowing to be otherwise, this is considered as a reason. That which has only one characteristic is only that which has four meaningful characteristics. The so-called "other appearance" means that it cannot be established. The so-called "not allowing" is that it is completely incapable, impossible. If so, will it only become "if not, then not arise"? No, the fearless (one) says: Because "if not, then not arise" is considered to be beyond the category to be established, and not allowing to be otherwise is only to be established on the subject. The verse also says: In the example, there is nothing to be established, and others think that the reason itself is not seen. I think that even without this, it is impossible on the subject. That's it. This is also the only aspect. Or, if there is only the third aspect, then not allowing to be otherwise will be considered as the fourth aspect. Only the third aspect, for example: that which has gone to another place is blue lotus-colored, because it is the son of a black person. This will also become a reason. To this, saying "Whatever is if not, then not arise, the other party thinks that it is beyond the category to be established" is a fabrication. Because in general, wherever there is a dharma that can be established, there is a dharma to be established, this pervasion is if not, then not arise. Therefore, it is only needed on the (things) to be established. If only on the subject to be established, whatever dharma to be established and if not, then not arise, are considered as reasons, then, if there are also to be established and if not, then not arise in the external environment, then it will not become a reason, and the wrong will also become a reason, because on that, it is possible that not allowing to be otherwise on the subject. Therefore, this is unreasonable. Precisely because this is unreasonable, the reason with four characteristics is unreasonable. Also, only the third aspect, for example: that is blue lotus-colored, because it is the son of a black person, this will also become a reason, so it is said.
