So, here, isn't it desired to realize that something similar to an object is established in the presence of self-awareness? Therefore, in order to say, "Because of what, from its power it shows it," why say, "Because of what? That meaning is measured by it"? It is necessary to say so, because that self-awareness is what does the function of meaning cognition, therefore, in order to clarify the meaning that "only from the result should one observe the approximately established meaning cognition," that is why it is said that way. In this way, valid cognition and result will not become different objects, because it is only by calling what is established on the external object as self-awareness. Then, how is self-awareness said to be the result? Ultimately, because of its nature, self-awareness is said to be the result, and approximately established, from the result one can only observe meaning cognition, so there is no contradiction. Here it will be explained that in mere consciousness itself, the apprehended aspect is valid cognition and the apprehendable aspect is the object of valid cognition. Therefore, it is doubtful that there is a dispute about this. To that, this is a dispute: if there is no external object, then what about the various distinctions of the grasping aspect, etc., of the consciousness of undifferentiated nature that becomes valid cognition, etc.? Therefore, in order to answer this question, it was said, "Thus," etc. This is the summary of this passage, that is, in reality there are no such distinctions at all. Those who are defiled by ignorance merely appear as if they have various distinctions such as the grasping aspect, etc. Therefore, one should establish valid cognition and the object of valid cognition as they are seen, not as the true reality. How does it appear that way even though there is no distinction? Just as those whose senses are defiled by mantras, etc., also make things like lumps of clay, etc., separated from the forms of elephants, etc., appear separately as the forms of elephants, etc.; just as in distant wildernesses, small or large appearances appear, similarly, this knowledge of those blinded by ignorance also appears in this way, even if it is not so, it appears as such.

It is appearance. From the power of mantras and so on, they are produced in that way, and it is impossible to examine this. Because people near the unconfused vision do not see it that way. Thus, it is the consciousness of the dualistic appearance as mentioned before. The principle of consciousness refers to the principle transformed from consciousness. What does it become? Many aspects. Which many aspects, that is what is said. What are those aspects? It is intended to speak of the appearances of grasping, etc., which are determined by delusion. Taking near means taking that as the cause of measurement. Thus, thus, etc., when there is no discrimination for the time being, separation from the discrimination of grasping appearance is direct perception, the clearly appearing object of grasping, the self-character is measurable. What arises from the sign, also the subsequent thought of grasping appearance is valid cognition, like following the difference of what is to be clarified, the indistinctly appearing object of grasping, the general characteristic is measurable. Should be established, that is, should be called. This clarifies this, this is the nominal measure and the self-nature of what is to be measured, it is to dispel the imputation of those who also have inverted discriminations about this. Only that which transcends the world, being pure by non-delusion, immaculate and without decay, is the valid cognition of ultimate truth, its only correct object is what is to be measured. All dharmas are those who are separated from action, this clarifies that the principle of consciousness is delusion. In reality, for any dharma, it is impossible to have the name of seeing the nature of non-one aspect, because the aspects are not completely established. That is just delusion, those blinded by ignorance also see it that way for consciousness without the aspect of knower and known. If so, then all the consciousness of those who do not understand reality is deluded, how to establish valid and invalid cognition? It comes from the difference of the habit of being deluded, because from the consciousness that appears as water, etc., touching and drinking
