Etc. Regarding stating as a reason something that has the characteristic of being observed immediately after arising, if one refutes by assuming that it arises immediately after arising, then what would be expressed by "because it has the characteristic of being observed immediately after arising"? That is, "because it arises immediately after arising." "That arising is not established for it," therefore, it appears to be unestablished. Why? Because it has been said, "observed immediately after arising," etc. For the contradictory side, actually, "expressing the undesired" is the definition. The remainder is to be indicated. As before, having made the establisher, it is said, "By you saying this, actually, what arises immediately is permanent," it will be expressed in this way. From that, it is uncertain by lightning, etc. Furthermore, "confusion about the probandum itself" means that other than impermanence itself, permanence itself, which is not something that is observed immediately after effort, is what is to be established. The reason is mistaken; for impermanence itself, it is not something that is observed immediately after effort. Therefore, it appears to be uncertain. Why? Because it has been said, "The reason also exists in what is permanent." Alternatively, this shows another way. Here, whatever is the error of assumed certainty, by assuming the reason and arguing, it will become seemingly uncertain, it should be known. Similar overextension, what is indicated is the remaining definition. For the perfectly established example, the two are the debater and the counter-debater. Through whom is the reason sought? "Only the pot is impermanent," for this, what is the reason? This is similar overextension. Like the example, this is an appearance. It means that because for the pot that is established as having what is to be established, it is also argued that it does not have what is to be established. Furthermore, from the similar result, what is the difference here? Just as there it is also argued that the result of sound does not exist on the pot, it is only said to be an appearance of a fault of the example. Therefore, it has been said, "The previous one is," etc. There, the result of sound does not exist on the pot, because the reason does not follow, so it is only said to be an appearance of a fault of the example. But here it is

Since there is no corresponding action, it is said that it is merely a difference in appearance! This "merely a part" and so on, this is what I have indicated approximately to those seeking faults, because of the appearance of incomplete reasons and so on. Those are because of the appearance of defects and so on, so it is for the sake of knowing the meaning of the appearance of answers. In this way, for others, it should also be known that it is an unreasonable answer. The so-called "because of the appearance of incompleteness and so on," the word "etc." includes non-establishment and so on. The so-called "for increase and decrease are the same, etc.," here the word "etc." also includes what should be declared, what should not be declared, reasonable, similar examples, and the same occasions, and so on. Also, if asked: How can one know that it is an unreasonable meaning for others by relying only on a part? The answer is: The so-called "these are only" and so on, merely saying "only" can generate infinite differences from the difference of combination, not from the difference of meaning. Therefore, since there is no difference in meaning, for those, in the way it is said, because of the appearance of incompleteness and so on, one can know that it is an unreasonable answer. Among them, the so-called "increase is the same" is what the fault-seeker said after doing the previous combination: If, like a newly created thing, from the same Dharma nature, if one also considers sound to be impermanent like a pot, then sound will only obtain a body like a pot. This is because for the thing to be established, it increases the Dharma of the example, so it is the same increase. Or, a pot is not audible, therefore sound will not become audible, this is because for the thing to be established, it reduces other Dharmas, so it is the same decrease. What should be declared is what can be declared, which is the meaning of what should be established. If a pot is also like sound is declarable, this is the same declarable. Or, if it is also like a pot is not declarable, this is the same non-declarable. These four are also included in the same without difference and the same in discrimination. If the reason for impermanence comes from a newly created thing
