For that meaning. When seeking meaning through other general exclusions, it is possible to have a combination of only the sound of arising from the term 'arisen from earth.' Then, 'for certainty' and so on, show the rationality of doubt. The questioner is only certain about trees, and asks in this way: Is the tree arisen from earth? Or is it arisen from the five great elements? In this way, the questioner, being certain about the tree, from what does he doubt only the general sound? That alone is the reason not established. Regarding that certainty, 'the other' means: indeed, the questioner is only certain about the tree and does not know the other occasions. Only upon hearing the sound of 'arisen from earth' does doubt arise, because previously he saw the difference together with the meaning and so on. In this way, having understood the general and specific in meaning, 'how also' and so on are spoken to understand the general and specific in sound. How, for meanings, coming from the way of experiencing the clear difference of doing the same thing, entering into wisdom and so on, those who speak of general characteristics, clinging to them as if they were the nature of external objects. Just as it is easy to understand the distinction of other meanings, for sounds, arising from being led by the habit of illusion caused by experiencing the nature of sounds that do not have that result and so on, existing in wisdom, the general characteristics, those who follow speech, cling even more to merely following external sounds. When distinguishing other sounds, 'called' should be placed as general. 'How' and so on are used to explain the meaning of repeating words. Using the exclusion of 'not done' indicates the third cause. Excluding 'not done' refers to the object that has been done, because it has already been said that 'the opposite is not different from the one possessing the opposite.' Opposite, complete exclusion, and complete cutting off are synonyms. Therefore, it should be said in this way: using the cause of excluding 'not done,' the done itself, as the cause of the object that has been done, how is the difference that appears separately in wisdom from that general, that is, the done?
