The necessity of this has been explained. Furthermore, even if one distinction is urged, it is understood to be different from others. In order to understand the terminology urged by following and differing, the sounds appear and express by eliminating others. Some parts of that object should be understood as different from other meanings. Sound only expresses objects that are different from other meanings, and so on. Distinctions and objects to be distinguished are not. If so, is it not possible to understand the terminology of sound only by showing what follows, only by showing what is not earth? This is not the case, because if there is nothing to be completely abandoned in the only following, it is indeed a fruitless manifestation; likewise, there is no dwelling in some of the things to be completely abandoned. There is no following without difference, and there is no difference without following, because understanding one's own meaning is following, and this is not possible without difference. Separating other meanings from one's own meaning is difference, but it should not be examined without following. Therefore, there is no such thing as rejecting others from sound, and the function of expressing what it means, because one's own meaning is a separate nature, so only by expressing it can one understand the rejection of others. For example, when it is said that this is this person's brother, the brother is both of them, so even if one is called a brother, if there is none, it will not be born, so even if one comes, it is understood as a brother, so in the two to be distinguished, the distinction is both of them, so even if one distinction is urged, it is different from others because it does not arise without it. Therefore, again, whatever is heard eliminates other meanings, that negation is only the one who has already used the meaning, so it is said that another sound should be sought for the sake of understanding one's own meaning, which is also unreasonable, because sound only understands its own meaning, and for the meaning to be understood, because it does not arise without it, it understands the difference of other meanings.

Therefore, such elimination alone is the meaning of speech, which means there is no contradiction. Furthermore, what is the meaning of speech? It is said that it is the general aspect of what one intends to say. Moreover, because it is not mistaken about what one intends to say, speech is said to be a valid measure for what one intends to say. If the meaning of general speech is such, then how is the appearance of the mind said to be the object of speech? It should be established as general only. How so? Here, the faculties and appearances, as well as mental activities, or the self, the faculties, the mind, and the encounter with objects, although they are distinct without being general, they produce one consciousness of form, just as the consciousness of form does. Similarly, the distinctions of trees, Shapa trees, and so on, although they do not follow each other, through the gateway of one's own experience, those that awaken the habitual tendencies of discrimination produce one discriminating consciousness that appears non-different. Moreover, because what is to be established and what establishes are one and the same, whatever is the nature of those that are different from others and the habitual tendencies of discrimination, by the power of that, the distinct nature of their arising there is obscured, and the non-different appearance of oneself is superimposed on them. In the manner of their non-different nature, it is shown in some ways. Whatever is its non-different appearance is like an external object, like the function of meaning, like the distinct and following luminosity, which is grasped as an external object by those who are deluded in their understanding. That which shines everywhere like an external object among the things that completely enter the mind is what the understander establishes as general before the mind. Now, how is it said to be the meaning of general speech that eliminates others? It is said that it alone is the elimination of others. How, by what measure, does the meaning of external objects and so on revert from others? That alone is the elimination of others. Reversion, elimination of others, and cutting off the meaning of others, and so on, are names. Reversion is also not said to be different from the one who possesses reversion. Therefore, how does the nature of the self-character of external objects transform into the nature of the aspect of knowing how to eliminate others? It is said that there is no fault. That nature itself is how those who contemplate and explain it are.
