In order to accomplish pramana, one seeks to follow reason. If it were to change merely by example, then following reason would become meaningless, because merely by example, what is to be proven would be accomplished. This is what is thought. Merely accomplishing is following what is to be proven. This does not exist, because what is to be proven merely by example will not follow. Why? Because "also in that" etc., that is, the reasoned thing to be proven, and merely the thing to be proven. Merely the thing to be proven is for the sake of explicitly stating it later. The former is to be understood as the reasoned thing to be proven. Is it its difference? Its sound points to what is to be proven. If it is an example, that is, when it is an example. Examples are endless transformations, and the reasoned thing to be proven is also an example. If it is the latter ones, then one must also state the reversal from the dissimilar side. For example, a pot is impermanent because it is made, and sound is also so. For example, a pot is inferred to be impermanent merely because it is made, and sound is also so, this is the concluding statement. Again, regarding the impermanence of the pot, "also in that" etc., just as sound accomplishes impermanence through example, so it is for the pot. Likewise, for its example, it is endless. Like space, it is not permanent, this shows that by negating permanence, only impermanence is to be accomplished. Therefore, "from space etc." etc., that is, without reversing from the dissimilar side, it is not understood. Therefore, when one wants to say "like space, it is not permanent," by showing the proximate cause of being made, one must show the reversal from the dissimilar sides such as space. If it does not change from being made, then it is not permissible, this itself is meaningless. Because it exists, it is also not, "like a pot, it is impermanent," merely this cannot understand the reversal from those. Like felt etc. it is not, this says that by negating other differences, one accomplishes the difference. Even so, like felt etc.

Starting with "all dharmas" and so on. If it is necessary to establish a particularity, then just as with space and so on, coarse cloth and so on are also only dissimilar sides. Therefore, it should also be said from that that the reason is reversed. Otherwise, it will also become "because it is a product, therefore it is impermanent like coarse cloth." Merely showing examples does not make it understandable, because coarse cloth and so on do not exist solely from being made. What is to be established is not always possessed of characteristics, from here to "not possessing particularity." The reason for saying "at all times" is that in some cases, it is possible to possess characteristics. For example, here it says "fire," and there, the dharma to be established is the nature of the subject, not the nature of the dharma. Because the subject may also possess characteristics. Or, what is to be established is not always possessed of characteristics. By merely excluding the commonality of not possessing characteristics, the dharma to be established is established. It should be observed that "at all times" is held definitively, meaning that it is not merely that it does not possess characteristics at all times. Then, are there no cases where it possesses characteristics at some times? Like combustibles and so on possess particularity, because there are differences such as grass-born, leaf-born, and so on. If asked in this way, this is not the case, because on top of that, when establishing the particularity of grass-born, leaf-born, and so on combustibles, it is also merely establishing the commonality of grass-born and so on combustibles, why should there be characteristics? Therefore it is said that it is also not related to the meaning of the proposition, because it is only posited by impermanence. When only positing by impermanence, only relying on it, just like being made, the meaning of the example can be established. If relying on particularity, it is not related to the meaning of the proposition, because it is establishing another's tenet, and only approximately measuring another's tenet. Starting with "if again" and so on. If the example becomes different from the reason, then the statement "only the dharma of being present in the similar class is the reason" can be obtained. From the statement and similarity of the example, the dharma to be established can be established, this is the characteristic of the reason.

Therefore. Furthermore, if it is so, what will the undesired become? It is said: It is like that, and so on. That there is a time of error is because the opposite of the reason is greatly shown to the opposite side of what is to be established. Why is it only the nature of being dissimilar? It also becomes a non-common reason, because it has not been said that there is a reason in the similar side. Why is it that both are said? It is not possible there, because it is said in both places. The latter examples of the first and last three are said. The latter examples of the first three are said to be produced by diligence because of impermanence. Here, the vase and so on are examples of the same dharma nature, and the sky and so on are places of different dharma nature. Although both examples have them, they are uncertain, because electricity and so on are on the opposite side. The latter examples of the last three are said to be constant because they are intangible. Here, the sky and so on are examples of the same dharma nature, and the different dharma nature is the vase and so on. In this way, karma and so on are uncertain because they are on the opposite side. The reason and what is to be established are not complete. That is, the reason and what is to be established, and the two are the reason and what is to be established, and they are not complete with them. Also, the two are the reason and what is to be established. What is the cause of this? Because this is the only opportunity, and also because it has not been heard. The opposite of that is not made. The word 'that' refers to the reason and so on, and the word 'opposite' here intends to say only that there is no reason and so on, and the reason and so on are the meaning of absence and separation. Following and returning, the two kinds are pure. That is, it is because of the difference between the same dharma nature and the different dharma nature. What appears there is a simile. Also, there is no following. The word 'also' is to hold. The two kinds of purity also enter. Not following is also a simile, and it is also what is to be established and what is able to be established, and its opposite side.
