That all will be understood at once, that is what it means. It is also said that the so-called "saying" is to eliminate the inverted understanding of the realm of activity, and only non-conceptualization is the foundation for establishing the tenet. The so-called "Dharmata is not one nature" is what it means. Because it relies on the distinction from others, all the examinations of the various differences of dharma, such as the general nature, knowable, etc., are relative to their multiple natures. In addition, in terms of things, the dharmata with characteristics such as form is not with parts. Those distinctions of examination are only the objects of discriminating consciousness, not the objects of anything else, as the teacher said. The so-called "not known by sense consciousness everywhere" means that the so-called "by sense consciousness," where "by" is the usage of the fifth case. Just like "wiping with a hand" in "with." Starting from the cause of sense consciousness, or through obtaining sense consciousness, in any case, it will not be grasped by its own characteristics and common characteristics, that is what it means. So, what is its object like? The teacher said, "Known by oneself," and so on. The so-called "known by oneself" is non-universality. If it is not what is to be explained, then it is not what is to be expressed. Or, if it is said "known by oneself," then what is its nature? The answer is: "Not what is to be explained," because not what is to be explained itself is because their knowledge has different natures, I think so. Therefore, all the knowledge that arises from sound and all the knowledge that arises from sense consciousness, these respective appearances are different, because they are clear and unclear. Just like in things with the function of sense consciousness, the nature of things appears separately in a clear way of sense consciousness, but the knowledge arising from sound does not have it. If only the realm of activity of sense consciousness needs to be indicated, then the knowledge arising from sound will also appear separately in the same way, but that is not the case. Whatever does not appear in the knowledge arising from sound is also not the meaning of sound. Therefore, since it is the object of knowledge in different ways, the white and so on indicated by names are not the objects of sense consciousness. Whatever is taken by knowledge in different ways from anything, it must not be it, such as what is taken by knowledge in different ways from a horse is a buffalo. The object of sound is white.

Even things like that are objects of cognition that are distinct from the sense objects. This contradicts the pervasive. Although it changes like that, the basis of sense consciousness is the eye and so on, and what arises from sound. Therefore, even though the bases are different, the objects are the same. If you say that their appearances are different, then how do you determine that eye consciousness and so on are different things? There, it can also be said that their object is only one, and the different appearances are due to the difference in the bases. If you say that because it follows some aspects of things, only what arises from sound is the only object, and not the eye consciousness and so on, because they do not follow any aspects of things with each other, then no, because there too there is only following knowable things and so on. If what arises from sound and sense consciousness are not the same object, then for those who indicate and say, "That which has a tail and so on is a cow," how does one who understands from the indication of a cow and later sees a clear difference understand something like, "This is what I heard, this is this"? When saying "deaf cow," how does it only act on the sense object? For others who have an object of apprehension, it is impossible to understand "this is that," and it is also unreasonable to make others enter when persuading others. Sound can also produce such understanding and action on the sense object. Therefore, the thought that their objects are the same is also unreasonable. Those who truly analyze the nature of things, the teachers, make such a distinction of objects, not those who use names. Because they are too attached to the nature of things, they combine the appearance and the thing to be distinguished into one and use names, which is very excessive. Therefore, the self-nature that is to be known by oneself and cannot be indicated is the object of direct perception. Conceptual thought does not arise for such an appearance, because it is the same object as sound. By determining the object, one can also have conceptual thought about direct perception.
