This is adorned for the sake of simile, called worldly simile. Any words that contradict what is widely known in the world are contrary to simile. If it is eliminated only by stating what contradicts it, then in the world it is understood through inference called simile, and so are others. One should observe and manifest various meanings, this is the world. The ultimate truth is the nature of things as they are, and it is here or through this that the ultimate truth is realized, this is simile. The treatise itself is valid, it is to be admitted, and any statement that contradicts it is a violation of what is admitted. It is not visible to establish one's own position merely by refuting the other's position. It is clearly expressed by the phrase "without establishing the proof of one's own position." If asked, how is it not visible? The answer is, for example, and so on. If it is said, hasn't it been said before that there is no other impermanent dharma except the negation of the permanent dharma? If asked, how can it be said that the impermanent dharma cannot be established? This is a statement, because there it relies only on the negation of negation. Therefore, only the other dharma that is the opposite of the permanent dharma is the impermanent dharma, just like non-Brahmin and so on, and not just the negation of the permanent dharma. Otherwise, the horns of rabbits and so on would also become impermanent dharmas. Moreover, the impermanent dharma will not become the characteristic of conditioned dharmas, because it also exists in unconditioned dharmas. That state should also be explained through the causes and conditions of things, which is the contradiction. Also, it has been said "except for the negation of the permanent dharma" and so on, which refers to the generality that is devoid of the permanent dharma. In this way, the impermanence of sound cannot be established, because it is through stating the faults of the argument to refute the other's position. For this, it is also uncertain, meaning that there is no definite reason. If asked, can it be seen that the flooding of the river is proof of the previous rain only through negation? The answer is, whatever the flooding of the river is, etc., it is not established only through negation, what is it then? It is established through the flooding of the river with characteristics, by excluding the melting snow, etc., that is, by the absence of whiteness, etc., to make the flooding of the river have characteristics.

Seeing a river overflowing, it is seen that it would not happen without rain. For example, water with bubbles, coldness, turbidity, and mixed with grass and leaves, etc. Such water is not found in melting snow, nor when a canal is bound, nor is it seen when a snake sticks out its tongue, because those things cannot have this form. That is what is said. By mere negation, etc., by saying "etc.", it also includes the case where there was lightning before. If negating it also proves that there was rain before, then the growth of Devadatta also had a prior cause. Why is this? Because negating melting snow, etc., there is only rain before, and there is no growth of Devadatta before. If, because the growth of Devadatta before is not seen overflowing the river, it is not possible to infer that it existed before, then mere negation cannot establish one's own view. What then? It is because of the special overflowing of the river that does not occur without rain. Therefore, its particularity should be shown approximately by negation. This is only the negation that is approximately needed. Negation is not reasoned, meaning that it is not just having two reasons. By definitely grasping, here it is to be negated, but it is not having two causes. As it is said, negation is not just two, etc. If inference is expressed by worldly words, then it will only become completely grasping what contradicts it, but not completely grasping all methods of negation, because those things that contradict inference are different. Besides that, that itself is a fault, that negation does not have two causes. If all methods of negation are to be completely grasped by the word of example, then the words of failing commitment will become meaningless, because it is also included in it. Two combinations are also unreasonable. It means that neither of the two ways is reasonable. If it is said that it arises from the unmanifest, it means that it arises from the non-existent, that is, from the cause that is not existence. Because there is no place of arising, it means because there is no cause. Here it mixes, because all the particularities mix in the nature of ability.
