It is necessary to understand the distinctions between these. In the case of establishing a proposition, since the distinction between what is to be proven and what proves it is not made, unestablished reasons, etc., would also be considered as the proposition itself. How then can the difference of what is to be proven be understood? In the case of philosophical tenets as well, it is not the case that what proves the difference of what is to be proven, because reasons, etc., are the same as the proposition itself. Therefore, the tenets of all lineages, etc., are only those that are characterized by fully accepting distinctions. Because only as the basis for investigation are valid cognitions accepted, for without them, analysis would be impossible. Also, within the tenets of each lineage, whatever meanings of words are fully established by them are only accepted by the Vaisheshikas, etc. Whoever believes that after death the self enjoys the fruits, necessarily accepts that the self also exists. Even if unestablished reasons, etc., are not accepted at that time, for those that will be accepted, merely pointing out the cause of what should be done there does not establish the status of a proposition. Why is it that in the case of philosophical tenets, the difference of what is to be proven is established? If a dharma is to be proven, there is no similar dharma. Saying that if a dharma is to be proven, then the proven and the similar dharma itself are examples with the characteristic of that dharma is contradictory. Because the dharma to be proven, such as impermanence and arising and ceasing, etc., is not a dharma, then what is it? It is sound. Moreover, the impermanence, etc., to be proven and the arising and ceasing, etc., which are similar dharmas, are not present in examples such as a pot. Therefore, it becomes the way of understanding its dharma from the proven and the similar dharma itself. If there is a subject, then the sign is meaningless. Saying that from the example and the similar dharma itself, the proof is the reason that proves the proven is unreasonable. Because by what it is proven, from what proves it, the reason that proves the proven, the sound of sound is not unestablished, therefore the reason is meaningless. If both are primary

Saying "If both are to be accomplished, then the fault that arises is inevitable," means that there is fault in both cases. The word "must" in "must grasp" mentioned earlier, because it has the meaning of must hold, so it is expressed by the word "must hold." Previously must hold, that is, previously must grasp. Similarly, the following "must grasp" should also be understood in this way. It is meaningless to have to grasp earlier. For the sentence "This is meaningless," the reason is given, that is, "showing the proof" and so on. The meaning here is: merely showing what is to be established, completely is the word of proof, or it is a vow, then it will become the fault that the word of proof itself is a vow, so it is not a doubt that the word of proof itself is a vow. Why? Because the reason etc. pervades it. So, if it is neither what is to be established nor what can be established, then doesn't it become meaningless because it has the function of dispelling? No, because it is the occasion of knowledge, such a change is because it is not the occasion, so it is not the fault of becoming a vow, this has been said. If you say etc., here the auxiliary word of the word is not the fruit of dispelling, but not having dispelling others, so saying that the unestablished proof will also become the fault of the vow. Similarly, the same is true for the statement to be established. Saying that the statement to be established in the debate is the characteristic of the vow. For the sentence "That which is to be established is a vow," the faults mentioned earlier are compared and shown. Because it is a part, it is impossible. It means the faults mentioned above. For separate observation, the desired meaning is a branch, which is appropriate. Therefore, it should be understood that only the statement to be established which is only a branch is a vow, and the unestablished reason etc. which is not a branch is not. The "also" in it refers to the characteristic of the branch. For the sentence "That is undesirable, is dispelling, is the meaning that has been observed," it is said like this: Because the word branch is a general word. When observing separately, the undesirable
