After saying "no," that is also not reasonable. If it is said that the living Devadatta is not seen in the room, then he can only be seen outside, and if he is not outside, he cannot be seen. Saying this, it is not reasonable in other ways. If it is said like this, then it becomes saying that he exists, and nothing else is reasonable. That also only becomes the meaning of following and contradicting, therefore, understanding from the meaning is no different from inference. The statement is that, as the nature of the object of focus, when the house becomes the object of focus, the one with life is outside, for example, like the offering that is the object of focus nearby outside, as mentioned earlier. Devadatta, the one who exists and is understood from the sound, also has the Dharma mentioned earlier, this is the nature. Because it is the cause of doubt, whatever is the cause of doubt is not a valid means of knowledge, just like the object to be measured. Understanding from the uncertain meaning is also like that, thus it is said to contradict the pervasion. The black one is not in the house, etc., just because he is not in the room, it is not possible to think that the black one is outside, otherwise it would also become a rabbit's horn. By closely combining the sound of the house with the language, it can be understood that he is outside. If the sound of the house is closely combined, then this language will express the certainty of non-existence. Only when one wants to express that kind of meaning, will one combine this kind of language. What is said is, if he is not in the house and not outside, then one should only say that he does not exist. Therefore, this language will imply both not being in the house and being outside, because if one definitely states one and does not imply the second, it is impossible to happen. Merely not existing does not imply being outside, and certainty is also not merely one, because certainty is the nature of both. Therefore, saying that the black one is not in the room does not only express the absence of things, but also indicates being outside. Therefore, merely understanding the absence of things from the meaning, for example, like the Dharma without containers, etc.

"Existence is not existence" means that if it does not exist, then because it itself does not exist, it causes that non-existence. Similarly, if one wants to express negation definitively, then saying the word "house" is because if there is no house outside, then existence is not existence, because if it does not exist, it will not arise, so it causes that non-existence. Therefore, just as smoke, etc., is a sign of fire, this part of speech—the word "house"—also makes people understand the house from the fact that there is a house outside. The hermit says that the non-existence of things, as the non-existence of the object of valid cognition, means that there is no encounter. The absence of the five valid cognitions, such as direct perception, means that there is no encounter with the senses, which will become the cause for determining the non-existence of things. Therefore, saying "the non-existence of things is valid cognition" is the meaning of language. Besides using the word "unseen" to express it, others who claim that there are other valid cognitions would say this: By what is close observation done? By what is it known? From non-existence, by that which knows non-existence, it is considered that this is unseen. Like this, for this, there is also no valid cognition. Not being grasped is not the cause of grasping the non-existence of things. If relying on grasping, it acts on grasping the non-existence of things, then it will become endless. Just as grasping the absence of a pot is done by non-valid cognition, non-valid cognition is also grasped by another, and that is also grasped by another, because there is no end. If even one grasping is absent, then all grasping is absent, therefore, how could that be valid cognition? If not being grasped also becomes the cause of grasping like the senses, then it is not so, because the nature of non-existence is to be separated from all abilities. Otherwise, it would become only existence, because the nature of existence is to be able to do things. Therefore, the non-existence of things is not valid cognition. Then, for you, the unseen will also not become valid cognition, because the same fault exists as has been said. This is not existence. Because I do not want this kind of unseen, but rather the unseen that has become the nature of the seen. That which has become the nature of the seen is the other condition of the seen.
