The meaning is that it is only for the sake of experiencing the characteristics themselves. The word "only" is to eliminate the grasping of universals and particulars. Like "the function of the ear, etc., is not," etc., universals and particulars are those that depend on other things. Therefore, because of depending on other things, it will become "this is similar to this" or "this is more special than this." The function of the ear, etc., also does not have the ability to grasp in this way, because there is no conceptual thought. Therefore, it is said that the function of the senses is not an object of universals or particulars. "Because it is not the meaning as it is" refers to the sense consciousness that has universals as its object. It is said in this way that it is also certain that manifest cognition is not grasped from universals. It should be said that only the function of the ear, etc., which is the meaning as it is, is manifest cognition. As it is said elsewhere, it is a subtle reason. If it is said in this way, the definition of manifest cognition will also be without fault, and there will be no need to make special distinctions here, because the sign of not being certain is not manifest cognition itself, and therefore it will fall into the fault of not being a sign. Here, some people say: Even if manifest cognition is only observing its own object, it will not become an object of universals and particulars, because universals and particulars are not different things from sound, etc., because in all cases, sound, etc., are the objects of the senses. This is unreasonable, because it will hinder entering one's own object. Thus, whatever universal enters sound will also enter color, etc., therefore, it is not different from sound, and it is also not different from color, etc. When the function of the ear grasps it, it will also fall into grasping color, etc., and because it is not different from many colors, etc., it is not a unique universal, and the colors, etc., are also not different from that unique one, therefore it is unique. The result of manifest cognition is manifest cognition, if someone thinks like this.

This is the answer to what was said, such as "knowing." The object of mind is characterized by conceptualization, because it is the object of both general and specific characteristics. The statement "that is also not found" means: If the object of mind becomes the result of direct perception, then it would be established as a term, but that is not the case, because the objects are distinct. This has already been said before. Therefore, it shows that it should not be established as a term by the word "direct perception." The statement "nor is it other" and so on, is because there is no cause to approach other objects from direct perception or its result. Or some may say this: the word "direct perception" in "from one direct perception" indicates the nature of being fully established. It means, from direct perception, that is, from what is fully established. Therefore, for the characteristics of the object of knowledge other than direct perception and the result of direct perception, different direct perceptions will be established. Therefore, it is said, "nor is it other" and so on. Thinking like this, the nature of being fully established changes through direct perception and other valid cognitions, and for that, it is not temporarily approached and known through direct perception, because of the reasons mentioned earlier. Nor is it only through inference, because it would fall into the fault of being endless. Because if one wants another characteristic in order to establish smoke by inferring it from a certain characteristic, and to establish that, one would want another characteristic, thus falling into the fault of being endless. Scripture is also not always capable of holding characteristics, because characteristics that do not rely on established tenets cannot be completely eliminated by scripture. Because it is said in the commentary that "some meanings will become direct perception," so this is also unreasonable. Having admitted "let it be established by direct perception for the time being," wanting to say other faults, therefore it is said, "this must also be said" and so on. Is it held from related things such as wealth, only by the nature of wealth etc., or by other natures? If by the nature of wealth etc.,
