Thus it is said. The Hearers of burning and so on, here also only speak of the nature of fire that possesses it, but not of merits and general characteristics, because it is impossible for those who possess them. How also, etc., the fault of what has been said, is also shown in other connections. Because it exists in contradictions. Saying that there is, then only the contradiction of what has already arisen becomes a fault, but not for what has not arisen, because it is said that the general and specific characteristics are not appropriate for it. The signifier, etc., on the sign, what is other and general, such as the nature of things, and what are the differences such as burning, etc., for both of them, it will not become manifest and what is to be manifested. Here also, one should consider the interruption as a choice, the sign is common with others, and the characteristics of the signifier, it is said that it is neither the manifester nor the manifested. In the face of combination, it is read like that. To others, it is like the differentiators, etc. In all ways it becomes a fault, because the connection of possessing the manifester and the manifested, etc., is without difference. To only realize the possessor becomes a fault, it means that only with the aspect of the possessor, it will become what is to be inferred. What is this? It is said, other than this, etc. According to the connection, the sign can make known the signifier. Therefore, by the power of possession, the sign can make known, holding the nature of the possessor, it can only be known by its own nature, because the possessor depends on other possessors. It is also said like this, if this is extremely accomplished as the possessor of this, and there is no hesitation, then because of holding the connection of this, it will also become determined by what is not taken. Although it becomes here, it only possesses the nature of fire, therefore it is also known by its own nature. Also, what is said about the one who says from this, to the one who is connected, this is the one who is extremely inclined only to the difference, if it is said that it is not only the nature of the possessor's limbs, then it is said

Here also, "it is not" and so on. Or, without doubting, only because of this, another fault of the previous side is stated. If that which possesses smoke establishes the existence of fire, and the possessing of fire and smoke becomes a limb of inference, then here also there is nothing to be established. Why? It is said, "Because that is already realized." Well then, what is to be established? It is said, "Wherever it is" and so on. Why? Here, from the word "this," the sound of "here" should be understood as the basis of the place here. Well then, the basis is general, and if the word "here" is to be established, then how is the distinction from that to be understood? It is said, "Otherwise" and so on. This clearly shows that the distinction, namely, that another meaning is impossible. Wherever this word "here" is, where another meaning is impossible, it is intended to express the basis of complete entry, just like the statement "This is a well." Here, in "There is fire here," the word "here" is also one that has no other possible meaning. It is the result. Well then, is the distinction not unestablished? Is it because it is intended to say only "smoke is here"? It is said, "Fire on smoke" and so on. Because one side of the meaning of the pledge, namely, the subject to be established, alone is manifestly stated as the reason. Well then, the distinction is one side of the pledge, and the general is the reason. So how does this fault arise? Think like this: because it is intended to connect the possessing of fire and smoke, the reason should also be acknowledged as being only the nature of the characteristic of the distinction, and not the general. Otherwise, it would be impossible for substances alone to possess each other, because this is intended as a treatise. Moreover, one side of the meaning of the pledge will become the reason. Here also, this alone is to be stated; it is not to be established that there is fire here, because that is already realized, and so on. The answer is that it is to be stated, but it is not free from the fault that has been stated. Here, for the distinction of smoke, fire is also to be established.
