Furthermore, it is crucial to understand that for any object that needs to be proven, if visibility is lacking, then it will not arise. Moreover, if it has already been mentioned that 'it will not arise without the former,' then why say more? The phrase 'It is also the same for fire, etc.' is to exemplify fire, seeds, and impermanence itself as things that can be inferred, so it should be understood that (the author) clearly wants to infer only the Dharma itself. Therefore, now these three examples, which are exemplified by the distinctions of 'now,' etc., are explained. However, for the subject of Dharma that is distinguished by Dharma and needs to be proven, this distinction is not possible, because the subject of Dharma always exists. Furthermore, the statement 'When smoke, etc., is seen in fire, etc., the determination of fire, etc., becomes absolute,' then what else is there to infer through reasoning? Therefore, (the author) says that whatever is called 'having visibility for the object to be proven' is also unreasonable. And the phrase 'How is it not said?' also points out the fault of the agent being unclear. // Furthermore, in 'Also of rational people,' etc., it is briefly indicated that direct perception, inference, approximation, and sound are valid cognitions. After explaining the definition of direct perception, immediately following, the definition of inference related to the current situation is explained, that is, 'It has a predecessor,' etc. In between, through the occasion of offering, it is explained what is the predecessor of direct perception. That is, direct perception completely establishes the sign and the thing with the sign, or their relationship, and only because the sign is seen later, the thing with the sign can be inferred. Therefore, it becomes having a previous direct perception. Similar to the previous, is the same as the previous, just as at the time of association, the object perceived by direct perception, later, merely by seeing the sign, knowledge of it also arises, therefore it becomes similar to the previous. The remainder, that is, similar to direct perception, is the thing that is similar to the remainder, and the knowledge of its object is also similar to the remainder, just as after directly perceiving one fruit through the way of taste, the other fruits also have such a taste, because they are the same as the taste directly perceived, that's how it is.

It is like inference. If it is said that direct perception is superior to the other (referring to inference), then it is not the same as "remainder." Therefore, how can the consciousness that has it as its object become an object similar to "remainder"? Because these things are mutually dependent, they themselves are "remainder." Therefore, direct perception also depends on the other, so it is "remainder." Therefore, the other is also the same, so it is similar to "remainder," so there is no fault. Or, the previous one is the cause, and it also exists here, which is having the previous one, that is, the effect. The consciousness that has it as its object also has the previous one, that is, inferring the effect from the cause. The remainder is the effect, and it exists here, which is having the "remainder," that is, the cause. The consciousness that has it as its object also has the "remainder," that is, inferring the cause from the effect. Common appearance refers to knowing other extremely hidden things from things that are similar to others. For example, observing that a black traveler has previously arrived at other places, by being similar to this, it can be inferred that the sun has also previously traveled and arrived at the place where it is old on the mountain top. The three (inferences) that can be established only through detailed explanation are called three in order to explain that the only follower who has the previous one, because it is the object of the three times, so it should be known that it itself is three kinds. For example, inferring that it has rained from the flooding of the river is an inference compared to the past. Inferring that it will rain from the ants moving their eggs is an inference compared to the future. Because of hearing the sound of the peacock, it is said that there is a peacock here, which is an inference compared to the present. Here it is said that "it is impossible to be similar to the previous one of Madusa," which means that "ti" should be used to connect. "Association is not the object taken by the root," this is because, like the nature of the earth element, the associators will not appear different from each other, this is what is thought. Whatever does not appear in the root consciousness is not the object taken by the root, just like the root, association is also like this. There is no pervasiveness. Saying "nor is it all" is because eye consciousness and roots, etc., cannot be taken by the root. The reason for saying "all" is because fire and smoke, etc., can be taken by direct perception.
