Thus, if the object is able to enter as it is, then that is so. It enters by the power of the object, like the consciousnesses of the senses and so forth. But it does not enter in that way either. What then? It is not that it enters by falsely imputing untrue aspects such as self, belonging to self, permanence, and happiness to women and so forth, because objects are not of the nature of ugliness and so forth either. If something is empty of some aspect, then it is not reasonable for it to be the object of that thing, because that would be too extreme. Therefore, it is for that reason. Attachment and so forth are those that have imputed objects, and therefore are themselves without objects. If that is so, then the first, that is, the attachment that arises first in this life, those attachments enter by the power of habituation to similar things, and thus it is established. Now, if the object is not the cause, why is it seen that attachment and so forth arise when the object is near? "When the object has become near," and so forth is stated. The order is this: when the object is near, pleasure arises from the senses. From that pleasure, if there is no discrimination, then the predispositions that have been ripened by previous attachment and so forth, abiding in the mind that is not in accordance with the characteristics of the inverted self and so forth, will fully ripen, and from that, afflictions such as attachment and so forth will arise, therefore the object is not the direct cause. If someone thinks that this is merely stating one's own tenets and that there is no reason for it, then "for all" and so forth is stated. The "that" there refers to the object. "Like consciousness" refers to like the aspect that apprehends blue and so forth. "To that" refers to the object. "One" refers to having one aspect. Afflictions with one aspect do not arise for the object. For example, for the form of a woman, some are attached, some are hateful, some are jealous, and so it is seen that many different kinds of afflictions arise. If someone thinks that the first attachment and so forth in this life is not from previous habituation, then what is it? Is it from seeing others engaging in sexual acts and so forth? Or from others

It means, if it is thought that this is what (Buddha) revealed. Then it is said "other entering" etc. "Other entering" is a synonym for "universal conduct." It is indicated by "confusion is the edge of arising" etc. "The edge of arising" refers to sexual behavior and other universal conduct. Having equal merit means having the same behavior, that is, those who have (sexual behavior) like pigs etc., are called that way. Those who meet together are intercourse. Transformation is perversion, which is a synonym for sexual behavior and universal conduct. Greed etc. enter naturally through the power of habit, and this must be determined without a doubt. Like this, wisdom and discipline etc. should not circulate in samsara, those who have not habituated to samsara will not naturally enter without effort. The so-called "like drunkenness etc." is a metaphor for dissimilar dharmas, drunkenness is arrogance. If it is not like this, then just like drunkenness etc., wisdom etc. will also enter naturally. Some say that greed comes from phlegm, hatred comes from bile, and ignorance comes from wind. To this, it is said "however phlegm" etc. Among them, phlegm is the disease of phlegm. The so-called "like before" means that when there is discrimination, even if there is discrimination, it will not arise. Using "because" etc., for example, it is like saying the confusion of the object. Furthermore, the increase and decrease of phlegm etc., greed etc. will not increase and decrease. If which is different, which will not become different, then it cannot be its result, because it would be too extreme. Similarly, people with phlegm are also often seen to have more hatred, but strong greed is not. People with a bile constitution are also often seen to have strong greed, but more hatred etc. is not, which seems confusing. If which is missing, but which exists, then it cannot be its cause. In which situation it is seen to have greed, in that situation there is also hatred, therefore, through confusion, greed etc. are not dharmas of phlegm etc. Therefore, "therefore" is used to summarize. Which habit is in front
