It is said. Therefore, in order to show that the mind's wisdom relies only on the previous wisdom. It is said, "The mind's wisdom is independent," and so on. Non-dependence itself is the reason for independence. This mind's wisdom arises entirely from its own proximate cause, just like a dream state, because it relies on other causes besides its own proximate cause, such as the eyes and so on. This "like this" is to eliminate the non-establishment of the reason. "Because it exists even without its function" means that it exists even without the function of the senses and objects. Because even if there is no function, what arises cannot be its cause. If someone thinks that even if it does not exist, it is permissible for the discriminations about sky lotuses, etc., not to depend on the senses and objects. However, what does not cause the reason to be unestablished on one part of the subject? If the eyes are not damaged, how can it be said that the discrimination that enters into the continuum of blue, etc., that is present in front, thinking, "This is blue," does not depend on the senses and objects? If you think like this, then it is said, "Even if they exist," and so on. "They" refers to the senses and objects. The ultimate meaning is the emptiness of things. Appearance is the image, that is, the discrimination that clings to things, etc., is the same as the discrimination that appears without meaning, such as sky lotuses, etc., which is the meaning of "this object is also." If you ask: How is it? All discriminations that enter into the image of sound are the appearance of the meaning of sound, but the nature of the object does not appear there. Because sound does not enter into the nature of the object, because there is no convention made there. This statement has already explained in detail that the meaning of sound is constant. Since it exists on the conforming side, the reason is not contradictory, nor is it uncertain. If it does not arise from its own proximate cause, then it will become causeless, which is impossible. In order to eliminate the doubt that "because it relies on the body, it will not become causeless," it is said, "Any cow," and so on. Even if skin diseases and other diseases completely change it

Since the mind's wisdom does not change, the mind's wisdom is not dependent on the body. If something changes, and something else is definitely not going to change, then it is not dependent on that thing, just as a cow changes but a horse does not. Even in the case of skin disease, the body changes, but the mind's wisdom does not change, which is called: the universally applicable situation is not obvious. Eyes, etc., etc., if the thing that depends on it actually changes, then it will show the difference of the change itself, but here, the thing that makes the distinction does not exist. Therefore, it is established that wisdom does not depend on the body. Therefore, because it is hoped that even if the body is bad, it will not regress, there is no contradiction. If something does not depend on something, then when that thing is bad, it will definitely not regress, just as when a cow is bad, a cow will definitely not regress. The mind's wisdom also does not depend on the body, which is called: the thing that makes the distinction is not obvious. What is said in the two verses that immediately follow, "If it depends on another body," etc.? Because of what? It says "mind's wisdom," etc. The idea here is: here, one wants to prove the afterlife. How is that established? If it is established that the mind's wisdom has no beginning and no end, then it is established, because it is precisely on the difference of this state that the afterlife is established. The body is not, because in the formless realm, even if there is no body, the afterlife is still acknowledged. If it is established that the mind's continuum has no beginning and no end, then the afterlife is established, so there is no need to strive to establish another body. Why? Because there is no result. That cannot be denied simply because it is not seen, just as you with poor eyesight cannot see subtle smoke because you do not have the differences in kind and habits, etc. Even if that body exists, it will not be possible to establish denial simply because it is not obvious because it is not seen. Just as the intermediate state is said to be seen by the pure divine eye of the same kind. For this very reason, the Samkhya school has not abandoned the body that carries the burden of universal assumptions. The existence of past lives

Moreover, it will not become an object of focus due to the eon of the land, either because it arises for a very long time, or because its nature is an eon, like the body of meat-eaters and so on. Even if it is not an eon, those who see this shore cannot be certain that this being has become a butterfly, like a body transformed by an inconceivable combination of medicines. So, how can it be said that the consciousness that relies on different bodies is related to one continuum? The term "different bodies" is mentioned to follow its characteristics. That is to say, the consciousness of this life enters another life, following the characteristics of that consciousness. As it is said: People become masters of virtue and non-virtue through the habituation of them. Because without effort, without a body, in the next life, one contemplates as in a dream. Therefore, compared to the beauty of this shore, the bodies of this world and the next are different, so the minds that exist in them are not one continuum, and so on. And, the first consciousness that becomes the object of dispute in the womb and so on is not said to be one continuum, because the bodies are different, like the consciousness of buffaloes and pigs and so on. This refutes what was said. Furthermore, the next world is also established from this, whatever is conceptual thought is preceded by the habituation of experiencing sound, because it is conceptual thought, like the conceptual thought that arises in the state of youth and so on. The desire to drink milk and so on immediately after birth is a proof of nature. This proof is also not unestablished in its basis, because the effects of smoke and drinking milk and so on prove the phenomena of wanting to drink milk and so on immediately after birth. Conceptual thought does not exist by way of the nature of differences in abilities and so on, and in this way, it is not reasonable for smoke and drinking milk and so on to exist, nor is one's own nature unestablished, which shows: That is also the master of all reversals. Wanting to drink milk and so on.
