Because its object is not accessible to reason, because there would be too many faults, so a question is raised. It is said, "That is the sound of otherness," and so on. So, how is it called otherness? It is said, "From outside of self-nature," and so on. From outside of self-nature, among all things, the otherness that returns from those things, when grasped, because it manifests the non-common blue and other images, it is the follower of the form of the sound that is determined as otherness, and the conceptual thought with the form called otherness arises. If the name "otherness" is not used, then it will not be grasped, and it is not the self-nature that things speak of, nor is it the nature that possesses it. Therefore, the reason is not established. If, because of doubt, the object of the differentiated one made by the difference itself is the meaning of the reason, then, because the difference is not related to other meanings. At that time, also to show that one's own reason is uncertain. Others said "bhi ni" and so on. The nature of the general is two: the nature of the distinction of difference and the nature of non-distinction. Among them, what is the nature of distinction, that is what is desired to be taken as the wisdom without distinction. For that also is for the general. This and the distinction are the same as this object of wisdom. How is it? It is said, "Is it not the difference itself?" and so on. Because from the difference, the differentiated one is returned.

The general characteristic that is not the self-nature of difference does not exist at all, but the distinct things themselves that can be understood as without difference are called the general characteristic. Understanding without relying on the self-nature of each determination is what can be expressed by the term "general characteristic," which is its definition. If this is the case, then by what is it held? If it is associated with conceptual thought, then how can the general characteristic stand out from the difference and become a general characteristic with special qualities? So, how can the general characteristic and the difference be placed in a state of non-confusion? (Text:) "Different and the same." Etc., has been said. These distinct things are known through the same and the different, and in order, the experience of the general characteristic and the difference is expressed. Through experience, the names of the general characteristic and the difference can be understood on different objects. If (text:) "If the same and the different." Etc., is used to answer. What is called distinct is unmixed. The general characteristic is also other, and the difference is also other, which is its definition. The general characteristic is more special than the difference, which is only an approximate expression. Similarly, the difference is also more special than the general characteristic. Both are distinct because they are mutually distant from their own self-nature. What is called "existing without confusion" is transforming without mixing. As stated in the (treatise of) Good Wisdom, because of existence, etc., possessing the self-nature of the general characteristic can clearly manifest the difference, otherwise it is not so. Therefore, as the object self-nature of the conceptual thought of difference, the general characteristic of the kind can be clearly manifested without relying on all differences. Therefore, this is not contradictory to the object self-nature of non-conceptual thought. Saying it like this, here it will not become existing without confusion. If it is thought that it is neither distinct nor undifferentiated, then (text:) "Mutual." Etc., has been said. The characteristics that exist by mutually excluding each other will not arise without one self-nature negating and another self-nature establishing. Therefore, there is no other aggregate existing. In addition, in order to show that understanding non-difference and distinctness is mutually contradictory, (text:) "Except for the self-nature of difference." Etc., has been said. From distinct things, there is no other difference.

Moreover, if differences cannot be touched by the cognition of the general, how can these differences be grasped with certainty? If they cannot be grasped, then because things are not different, they are not grasped either, or so I think. If one wants to say that there is grasping, then at that time, if it is touched by its own nature, that is, if it is touched by the nature of difference, if it is grasped, because it is not different from what is grasped, just like the self-nature of what is grasped, the difference is also grasped. Therefore, for these differences, whatever cognition wants to manifest as the general and the particular, that will become discrimination. Furthermore, because the difference of the general and the non-difference, it has not become something more differentiated than that. Even so, just like the horns of a rabbit and other things that cannot be closely spoken of, because it is itself a difference, the discriminating cognition should not be grasped. Therefore, to show that this is uncertain, it is said, "Because of approaching speech," and so on. Thinking thus, the general is not different from the absence of things, nor is it similar. Just like anything that does not exist, if it is considered to be nothingness, then that nothingness itself is not a difference arising from the general, nor is it similar, because it would become a thing itself. Just like if one says emptiness, it would become something more differentiated than the general, then it would also become a thing itself, because for the absence of things, it is impossible to have the nature of being spoken of as a difference. Without the nature of being spoken of as a difference, it cannot be spoken of as having a difference, and it would become a thing itself. For the absence of things, there is no general essence, and from the absence of a general essence, similarity cannot arise, because it would become too extreme. Therefore, it is not reasonable to consider similarity or difference by making emptiness the opposite of the general. Just like anything that considers this as an opposite to become similar or different, then it will also appear to be similar or different from the opposite. If the opposite does not appear to be similar or different from it, then another thing that has an opposite will not appear to be similar or different either. Furthermore, the so-called "absence" is different from things.
