it would become an absurd conclusion. But that is not the case, therefore this is a refutation. If something is related to one continuum, then it does not enter different bodies, for example, an elephant's mind does not rely on a horse's body. The assertion that the minds of sentient beings are also related to one continuum is a pervasion established by contradiction, because the contradiction of being associated with different bodies lies in being associated with non-different bodies, which pervades being associated with one continuum. Therefore, it is concluded with words such as "therefore," the beginning is birth, and the end is death. That which does not have a beginning and an end is without beginning or end. A person is called self. Or, claiming non-existence itself, this indicates the scripture that there is no afterlife because there is no afterlife. Answering with words such as "he here," what is this afterlife that you deny? Is it something other than the four aggregates, namely consciousness, etc., that are taken and have been taken, becoming cause and effect? Or is it that itself? First of all, the first case is not established, because you do not admit it. What you must admit is that it is impossible for there to be an afterlife that is different from the continuum of consciousness, etc., that is taken and will be taken. So what is it? The continuum of consciousness, etc., without beginning and end, after determining the nature of interruption for hundreds of years, etc., merely some stages are established as later life, former life, and this life. Just as you are attached to happiness merely by seeing, therefore you regard these faculties and objects themselves as other objects, such as the afterlife. As it is said: As long as there are faculties and objects of enjoyment, that is the same person. It is also said: Other objects, other times, or other stages are the afterlife. If you negate the afterlife that is not different from the continuum of consciousness, etc., that has become cause and effect, then at that time you are proving what has already been established.

Therefore, striving to prove it becomes meaningless, because one does not acknowledge the existence of such a next life. However, because the continuum is not real. Then, isn't the difference in stages that is established there also unreal? If so, then this next life in which stage differences are established for that continuum will not become real either, will it? This fault does not exist. The word 'continuum' is used to indicate all at once, in order to group together the momentary continuums that become real, just as the word 'forest' indicates trees, etc. Then, how is it? If it is like causes, etc. In this context, it was previously shown that the continuum is not real, right? It is said that it is 'considered to be unique,' etc. The continuum that is considered to be unique, because it cannot be said to be itself and other, it is desired to appear as unreal, like a garland of sky flowers. It is on its stage differences that we establish the next life. If one negates this continuum of knowledge, etc., called the next life, then for a while, one cannot negate the next life by negating its own nature, because what is seen cannot be denied. Then, what should be done? Through negating the beginningless and endless dharma. Then, how is beginningless and endless established? If one thinks of it as beginningless, then it will become causeless, or it will arise from a cause such as a permanent consciousness of the Lord, or it will be permanent by itself, or it will be produced only by the four elements, or it will be a continuum of knowledge with another continuum, there are these five possibilities. If all minds become the cause of the preceding knowledge that abides in one's own continuum, then at that time the continuum of mind will become beginningless, otherwise it will not be, thinking in this way, these aspects are arranged closely. Among them, the first possibility is not established, because it will become the fault of being eternally existent, etc. Dependent things are sometimes changing, and the causeless
