Therefore, when things exist with the nature of both existence and non-existence, the five valid cognitions, which are the ultimate result of understanding through meaning, do not arise in the self-nature of the thing, that is, in the nature of the partless aspect of the thing. Why is that? It is for the sake of understanding the existent, that is, for the purpose of understanding the existent aspect of the thing. For the object to be measured of the non-existent aspect of the thing, the valid cognition of non-existence itself is the valid cognition. This only indicates its object, but not its own nature. So, what is its own nature like? It mentions things like direct perception, that is, the non-arising of the ultimate result of understanding through meaning, such as direct perception, is considered the valid cognition of non-existence. The valid cognition of non-existence is the embodiment or administrator of the sixth. Some people think that 'non-existence is apart from valid cognition', which is a statement of a particularly distinguished seventh category, meaning the valid cognition of non-existence among the valid cognitions. As it is said, after a secluded place, non-existence is also the valid cognition of non-existence, and it is said that the meaning of 'non-existence' is without fault. Furthermore, what is meant by 'unborn'? It mentions the statement 'They have not become complete, or, it is the discrimination of other things', that is, the non-arising of direct perception etc., those to be negated, not having become complete with the nature of knowing the things like the pot etc. that one wants to manifest, describes the self-nature of the existence of things, or it is the knowledge of the direction by the remote place of the pot etc. However, isn't the so-called non-existence spoken of as being separate from things? So, how is this the thing itself? Separating from things does not become a thing, to dispel this doubt, because the non-existence of things is established as the thing itself, therefore it says 'by the valid cognition of non-things'. If the valid cognition of non-existence did not become a thing, then it would be empty of all abilities and therefore it would not be possible to understand a non-existent thing, and it would not become four kinds of non-existence by the distinctions of prior non-existence etc., if that is not the case, then the cognition of non-existence will not become other forms.

The worldly terms of incompatibility and division into four types are incompatible in other respects, so the non-existent thing is the thing itself. Some say that these two are the measure of non-existence. Others say that this "division into four types" is called inference. The measure is also done in this way. Non-existence is non-existence itself, because it can be distinguished, just like a vase and so on. In order to show how this is divided into four types, yogurt and so on are mentioned. In the world, there is no result of the characteristics of yogurt and vases in the causes of milk and earth, and such understanding is called prior non-existence. If prior non-existence does not exist, then milk and so on will have results such as yogurt. Similarly, the absence of what is called milk in yogurt is called destruction non-existence. If it is not like this, yogurt will become milk itself. The absence of horses in cows and so on is called mutual absence. Because in cows and so on, there is no self-nature of other things such as horses. Therefore, these two are called mutual absence. If it is not like this, if mutual absence does not exist, then cows and so on will have horses and so on. The limbs of the rabbit's head, the self-nature of the rabbit's horns and so on, which are separated from swelling, growth, and hardness, are completely absent, which is called absolute absence. Here, if it also depends on things and is mutually absent, even so, the world's reputation is called absolute absence. Usually in the world, the name of a common basis is used as the name of mutual absence. For example, this is a cow, but not a horse. This is not a rabbit, but not a horn. If mutual absence does not exist, then the rabbit will have horns. It is also said: do not be young, if this is a measure, milk will become yogurt, yogurt will become milk, bottles will become cloth, rabbits have horns, sentient beings have bodies, in the water
