Moreover, these which are called things, are always invisible. Just as you do not produce (things), because they are always invisible, so there is no obstacle to us, this is the same answer, this is the thought of others. To answer with "it is not so" etc., here are two thoughts: the things that one wants to make clear, are those things themselves able to generate knowledge? Or not, if they are able, then it is constant, everything will arise from it, because those things are constant, having the nature of ability, they will not be hindered by anyone, because they are not deprived, without difference they cannot hinder. If they are not able, then when it is separated from ability, knowledge will not arise from it, then what is the use of the ability of the illuminator? Therefore, for the things that one wants to be constant, those causes that are completely considered as illuminators, are not related in any way, and the impermanent things, because they arise from the illuminator without being before, so it should be illuminated. Also, "the nature of those things is known by knowledge, like letters they are considered constant", having said this, the meaning of constant is said, for the things to be proven as constant, the knowledge that is established as a reason, that has already been refuted in the previous examination of things. "Without measure, it is certain, with the distinction of no blackness", having said this etc., having said "in the black house" etc., another way is that black is not in the house, nor is it outside, this shows uncertainty. If it is said that the living Devadatta is not in the house, this is taken as an example of understanding the meaning, here it is said to be a reason, not just absence, then that is unreasonable, why? Because there is also doubt about the living Devadatta, so the reason is doubtful, it cannot be established. Explaining the reason for uncertainty: "black is in the house", this is the measure for determining that, that is, the living black.

Therefore, there is only doubt about the appearance of the other shore. Furthermore, if it is thought that although there is no direct perception (pramāṇa) that makes the black one alive in the appearance of the other shore, there are inference (anumāna) and so on. If it is said, as in "sound, etc.," the so-called "sound, etc." refers to hearing the sound he speaks, or believing at that time, seeing that it is separated by walls, etc., and saying that Devadatta is alive. From the nature of the reversed direct perception (pramāṇa), etc., from the non-existent thing's valid cognition (pramāṇa), when it is certain that there is no black one in the house, that is, in the room, because it is established that there is no black one with the characteristic of being alive, therefore, the understanding of meaning arising from the non-existent thing, this is established as valid cognition (pramāṇa) itself. Also, the answer is given by "to that also," etc. This is the explanation of what is included in inference (anumāna), like this, the black one is the subject (dharmin). His existence outside is what is to be proven. The living one not being in the house is the reason (hetu). Or, being alive when not in the house is the reason (hetu). A person living in the courtyard of the house is a similar example (sapakṣa). Living in the house is a dissimilar example (vipakṣa). The house is the location. The pervasion (vyāpti) is determined from these examples. The unestablished reason (asiddha) is also not, like this, for the time being, not being in the house itself is determined by non-perception, and being alive is established from the admission of others. In reality, the reason is doubtful, because there is not the slightest valid cognition (pramāṇa) that can determine it to be alive. If asked, hasn't it been shown that sound, etc., exist? If so, from any one of sound, etc., being determined to be alive itself, it is established that it exists outside, then what is the use of understanding through meaning? Therefore, admitting that the reason is established from the admission of others, thereby showing that it is included in inference (anumāna). Analysis of understanding through meaning. Taking non-existence as a premise, for what kind of nature of things? As it is said, etc., to this, the things with the characteristics of existence and non-existence that are practiced by the practitioners, and those non-things, etc., are things themselves, because all things are the combination of the two natures of existence and non-existence, this is the commitment.
