Other things are not mentioned. Now, in order to show the self-nature of approximation, it is said, "In that situation." Like, "This animal seen is like a cow," the arising of knowledge with a hidden object, that is approximation. In order to show this object of measurement, it is said, "Therefore," and so on. Because approximation has the characteristics as described before, therefore, the memory of cows, etc., which have similar characteristics to yaks, etc., is the object of approximation. Or, it is merely the similarity that depends on cows, etc. However, isn't it the case that the similarity is directly perceived, and the cow is also remembered as an object? Therefore, if it becomes approximation through conceptualization, then what other object of measurement is needed? "Similarity is the direct perception itself." This statement is made, and if the similarity is also grasped by direct perception, and the cow is also remembered as an object, even then, it is different from the individual cow with similar characteristics, because it does not arise from direct perception and memory, so for conceptualization, approximation itself is not a valid cognition. "This itself is illustrated," that is, for example. For example, the earth is the subject, is directly perceived, and memory also grasps the fire, even if the earth, etc., with the characteristics of fire, is the object, it is not inference, however, it is a valid cognition itself, and approximation is also like that. If approximation itself is a valid cognition, then how is it a different valid cognition from direct perception, etc.? "That consciousness" This statement is made, and temporarily it should not be direct perception, because it does not arise from the connection between the sense and the object. Nor is it inference, because there are no three characteristics. Like this, understanding this similarity as a property, or understanding the cow, etc., that is being seen as a similarity, then, when understanding it as a sign, is it understanding it as belonging to a cow, or belonging to a yak? There are two possibilities. Among them, temporarily the similarity that exists in the object of measurement such as cows is not a sign, because that was not grasped before seeing the yak.
