The cause of having two aspects is also merit and fault, which is determined by following and reversing. For example, a person with faults such as desire is seen to be lying. The basis of the two causes of truth and falsehood, merit and fault, is the person. If so, if the person changes, the basis of merit and fault is the person. If a person with merit changes, truth and falsehood also do not exist. If they do not exist, because there is no other form, then words not made by a person will become meaningless, because there is no cause. Without a cause, a result cannot exist, because that would lead to no cause. Therefore, places, times, and things, etc., will necessarily not change. This should be regarded as being established through reductio ad absurdum. If it is not so, if it is established through svatantrika, it will contradict what is seen. For example, "One who desires heaven should burn offerings in the fire." Understanding the meaning from these words is the goal. What is seen is not able to move, and the absence of an agent is not established in either case, so the reason is also not established. Here, both should be regarded as being established through reductio ad absurdum. For example, if it is admitted that the Vedas are not made by a person, then it must be admitted that they are meaningless, because there is no cause of meaning—a person. But it is not meaningless, therefore, it is shown by reductio ad absurdum that it is made by a person. In order to show that this establishment by reductio ad absurdum does not contradict the purpose of the author, doubt is first raised, and then it is said "in order to understand the meaning," etc. If it is not so, the word "meaningless" is abandoned. If it is so, it is thought that the vow contradicts what is seen. If the Vedas do not show the way to understand the meaning of the Vedas, then the contradiction with what is seen will become a reality. Because this shows the way to understand the meaning, it will change under the influence of symbols, but not from some Vedas that do not depend on symbols.

Eh! Like this, regarding the investigation of the meaning of the Vedas, etc., stating it according to one's own will, considering the nature of things as following human will, that is not wisdom. Regarding this, someone might think, things that humans did not have before are not stated according to their own will. Then what is it? The nature of things exists in various ways, and humans only clarify it, so will it contradict what is seen? If that is really the case, then the Vedas themselves have the ability to clarify the true meaning, and even if one does not understand the terms, one can understand the meaning of the Vedic words. If it is said that one must rely on terms to understand the meaning of the Vedas, and it is not the only reason, that is not correct. Because, the reason that can understand the meaning by itself, such as a lamp, etc., does not rely on terms. If it is not like that, then the terms themselves can understand the meaning through compliance and opposition, rather than an essential connection. Furthermore, even if it is admitted that the meaning is understood from the combination of terms, but if this is the case, there will be errors, which is indicated by mentioning "other terms," etc. Through the terms set by the researcher, they will inevitably be combined, so the set terms are other terms. If there are other terms, then it will not be possible to understand other meanings besides the true meaning from that sound. For example, a lamp cannot illuminate fragrances and tastes, etc., which do not need to be illuminated, by the power of terms. Even if other meanings are ultimately understood through the power of terms, it will not be possible to establish valid cognition. To prove this, "that ability" is used. If, due to human will, the sound also points to other meanings, then in order to find it, the ability to clarify the true meaning will inevitably be unable to do so, so how can the desired meaning be understood from it? Alternatively, it can be explained in another way, that is, the ability to clarify the true meaning by itself, sometimes it will be determined as one meaning, or it will not be determined as multiple meanings, these two situations. For the situation where it is determined as one meaning, the fault said is "there are other terms." For the second situation, that ability also cannot be recognized.
