From there. If asked why, because "the explanation made by it" refers to the fact that the Vedas rely on this because the explanations made by those speakers are the cause of generating understanding of things, therefore it is not valid cognition. If asked what fault there is in this, then it is said "therefore the Vedas etc.," what is connected to "whether it exists or not" is "is valid cognition." When the words of the Vedas are thus subject to others, therefore it is not valid cognition, and all those speakers are like a line of blind men, because they do not see the Dharma, therefore it is not valid cognition. What others say, "Thus, both valid and invalid cognition, become beginningless," in order to show that that is unreasonable, therefore it is said "If it is valid cognition." If the speaker and the words made become valid cognition, then valid cognition itself becomes non-existent, it is unreasonable to say like this "that itself is not established," because they think that both are beginningless. Furthermore, we think that the Vedas and reciting it are the same as the Buddha and his teachings, this is actually competing with the Buddha. The Bhagavan and his scriptures are not the same as these, but there is a great difference, in order to show this, therefore it is said "Or for the Sage and his teachings." "Initially" refers to the cognition of external objects. Not bound by samsara, refers to those who have knowledge that does not conform, that is what it is called. If asked how those teachings that arise from its power are heard, then two verses are said, "Not stained by the two aspects." "The two aspects, non-deluded self" refers to abandoning the manifest clinging to the grasped and the grasper. "When realizing no-self on the two" refers to when realizing the no-self of person and phenomena. Or, the two refer to the grasped and the grasper, their no-self, that is, no self-nature, thus connecting the words. "Son of No Greed etc. are not the object of activity" refers to the son of No Greed refers to Vishnu. The word "etc." includes Ishvara etc. What if the son of No Greed etc.

Furthermore, why is it not desirable to view it as a completely pure self? As it is said: Like a clear mirror of others. And so on. The term "others" refers to those such as the son of thirst. Because the self has already been severed as permanent, the knowledge that is its object is inverted, and therefore not completely pure. Moreover, regarding the knowledge of a permanent self that they speak of, does that knowledge arise from that self, or does it not? There are two possibilities. If it is the first possibility, then because the causes are complete, all the knowledge that is its object should arise simultaneously. If it is the second possibility, then it must be asked whether that self is permanent or impermanent. In either case, since that self is of no help, it will not become its object, just like the mind of another person. Furthermore, regarding what was said: The self sees the self, that itself is its knowledge. To that, it is said: The characteristic of the grasped is not reasonable. And so on. If, for the moment, one were to accept the self as the nature of the mind, then at that time the knowledge that is its object would be impure, because for all knowledge of self-nature, the grasped and the grasper are not reasonable, since the meaning of external objects has already been established. If it is the case that the self is the nature of the mind, then because the object to be viewed and the viewer are different, the entities of the grasped and the grasper are not reasonable, so knowledge will not become its object. If the object and the subject are different, then they will become entities of object and subject. If, like a lamp, one were to accept that it is the object of these because it is of a clear nature, then at that time one would fall into the undesired self-awareness, and it would also contradict the assertion that knowledge is not manifest. That is what it shows: Intellect also becomes manifest. And so on. Furthermore, regarding what was said, that consciousness is for the sake of the object, such as: Consciousness and Brahma, etc. And so on. If there is a connection, then if Brahma and the like become the object of consciousness, then it is not reasonable that Brahma and the like have a connection with consciousness, for the connection of things is like this:
