Now it is determined to be a race. Unaccomplished and so on, with the word 'etc.' including mistaken and contradictory attachments. If one wants to establish existence, then all reasons do not exceed three types of faults, namely, if the existing dharma is another reason, it is unaccomplished; if it is the dharma of both, it is uncertain; if it is a non-existent dharma, it is contradictory. As it is said: In the unaccomplished there is no dharma, relying on both causes confusion, non-existent dharma is contradictory, how can existence be established? As it is said. If one wants to establish that the eye, as a subject, has the ability to generate eye consciousness, then because ability and existence, etc., are synonymous, establishing it becomes establishing existence. If they are different, then because it transcends the sense faculty, it is unaccomplished in itself, so the basis of the reason becomes unaccomplished. Thus, because it grasps form, this should also be regarded as unaccomplished because it lacks pervasion. So, do you also establish humans, etc.? It is said 'however' etc. Occasionally, it refers to the time when the eyes are closed. Although we have not established that the actual eyes, etc., are like this, however, seeing that consciousness follows and departs from certain forms, etc., this should be established as relying on other causes and not arising merely from it, because consciousness itself is the subject, so there is no fault of unaccomplishment, etc. That other cause is also named 'eye', and if it relies on the established tenet, then the name is different. Thinking like this: Even if, according to the way it is said, consciousness is allowed as a subject, even so, it is the second way of reasoning, thinking like this. For this, the example is from its own cause. It is said, from its own cause, that is, whatever arises in connection with its own cause is called that, like that which has become dependent on its own cause, such as sprouts, etc., occasionally exist as examples. The connection should also be made like this: Those who are close to anything are also occasional, those

It is impossible for it to arise merely in that way; it depends on other causes. For example, even if there is barley, sprouts and the like will arise or not arise depending on whether the seeds are near or far. Even if there are forms and the like, visual consciousness will sometimes arise when the eyes are open or closed; this is called a contradictory observation that pervades negation. For affirmation, it is the reason of nature. Or, "I and pot, etc.," in "pot, etc." the term "pot, etc." is mentioned. Here, too, it is a proof for what is established, because pot, etc., have been proven to be non-existent in some ways. However, if it is not established, it is because it cannot be observed. Therefore, this reason of "because it cannot be observed" is also not established, so the reason is not established. Just as before, the refutation is stated for the reason that proves in what way it exists. Because there is no dissimilar side, it is said that there is no dissimilar example. Regarding this, "dissimilar example" and the like are also mentioned. When the essence by which the pot and the like are observed is considered to be in the nature of existence, then their nature becomes a dissimilar example, because the reason of non-observation reverses for that nature. Similarly, for this connection of "how also," the establishment of intention and the like are the same. "Those without self" refers to things that do not exist. "Similarly" means that a dissimilar nature is possible. "Obtaining in the dissimilar" means that dissimilar things, that is, the characteristic opposite to what is to be proven, also universally applies to things that do not have what is to be proven. In "Your father is in this house," etc., "the father's voice," etc., are mentioned. "That" refers to being related to the father; if it has been experienced in some other place, then the reason is not established. "Where" and the like indicate the third mode, because sound depends on external things and is unreasonable elsewhere, so it is not established, therefore it is not a sign, because it only proceeds arbitrarily. If it depends on the meaning that abides in the mind, then
