If it is said that because the Vedas and the lineage of sages who possess the Vedas, like the Vedas themselves, are without beginning, therefore they are without fault. Then, the author and the words made, etc., are mentioned. In order to show this very reason, "dependent on others," etc., are mentioned. Just as the son of Śuddhodana (Śākyamuni Buddha) and his words are not valid cognition, so too are others such as Kāśyapa and Ujjvala, and their words as well. If this is the case, even if one examines that such persons and their words are without beginning, they are not superior to non-valid cognition, that is, they have not become better, because they abide in the state of non-valid cognition. Regarding this, if one proclaims the Buddhas, etc., to be like the reciters of the Vedas merely because they are without beginning, even so, it will not be established as non-valid cognition merely because it is without beginning, because both valid and non-valid cognition are not contradictory in being without beginning. The reciters of the Vedas and the Buddhas, etc., become valid and non-valid cognition respectively, merely because they are without beginning. It is not the case that because both are without beginning, they become established as valid cognition. This is the summarized meaning. In order to clarify this reason by means of an example, "those that are valid cognition," etc., are mentioned, connecting the words such as "the qualities and faults of valid cognition and appearances." Now, in order to establish that there is no omniscient one by abandoning the non-establishment of the nature taken as the object by the valid cognition of things, thereby showing the difference of the Vedas, "those that are Buddhas," etc., are mentioned. Saying "proclaiming similarly" is because both are the same in being the cause of correct cognition, whether through the permanence of the Vedas or through the words of the omniscient one, there is no contradiction in understanding objects beyond the senses. To those who proclaim in this way, it is to those who have thus established that the difference of the Vedas is spoken. Like this, what is seen is direct perception, and among inference, scripture, approximation, and implication, not even one valid cognition can establish it, because how can that be a valid cognition of non-existent things?

If it is thought that even the object that has not been proven by a valid cognition will become as famous as the milkmaid established by a valid cognition. Now, let us first eliminate the establishment of the five kinds of direct perception, such as the eye, etc. For the time being, those of us who only see this shore have not seen the direct perception of omniscience, because the direct perception of those who only see this shore has three aspects: the senses, the mind, and the self-awareness of all mental states. None of these three can realize omniscience, because they are not the objects of omniscience. The object of sense consciousness is the five objects, such as form, which are determined separately, so it cannot take the mental dharma belonging to the continuum of others as its object. Mind consciousness cannot either, because it takes as its object the immediately preceding object of the place of sense consciousness that is completely grasped, so like sense consciousness, it is the object of objects such as form that are determined separately. Self-awareness cannot either, because its object is the present mind and mental states in one's own continuum, so it cannot know the mental dharmas of others' continua, as well as the future mind dharmas, etc., in one's own continuum. The wisdom of a yogi is itself to be proven, so the thought of attachment and non-attachment will not arise. Inference cannot either, because the Sugatas believe that inference relies on three aspects, here, because it is based on the premise of establishing what is to be established, it is not based on non-perception for the time being. The result cannot either, because the cause and effect things need to be established by direct perception and non-perception, so the nature cannot simultaneously establish the cause and effect things with the omniscience of the kalpa. The reason of nature cannot establish the existence of all-seeing either, because it is not itself a direct perception, so it cannot grasp the nature that is inseparable from it. Therefore, whatever becomes the sign of seeing and not seeing, all
