Like "cutting off the self" and "correctly recognizing," etc., are all expressed with different names, but there is no difference in meaning. It is also unreasonable to think that (consciousness) can act on itself, because acting on itself is contradictory, and also, the states of being produced and not produced are existent and non-existent. Like this, does consciousness act on the self-nature that has already been produced? Or does it act on the self-nature that has not been produced? For the time being, it is not acting on the self-nature that has already been produced, because if it were its self-nature, then establishment and happiness would be one. If something is not one with something else in terms of simultaneous establishment and happiness, then it cannot be the self-nature of that thing, because that would be too extreme. It also cannot act on the self-nature that has already been produced, because there is no need to do anything special, and it would lead to continuous action. It also cannot act on the so-called unproduced side, because it does not exist. It is unreasonable to act on something that does not exist, because it is characterized by being devoid of all abilities of discrimination. If there is no action, then the action itself will degenerate. This itself is the characteristic of existence, which is the thing that can act. Therefore, the example and the meaning are not the same. Therefore, this is for the sake of valid cognition... etc. Therefore, here it says "for the sake of valid cognition..." etc. If consciousness is established from itself through self-awareness, then is consciousness not established as valid cognition from itself? In order to eliminate this doubt, it says "here it will only become..." etc. Just through experience, it is not possible to generate definite understanding of all things, because generating definite understanding requires relying on other factors, which has been explained many times. Therefore, wanting to obtain the meaning of "then," even if grasped through self-awareness, there may be causes of confusion such as not having the habit of being similar to non-valid cognition, etc., therefore definite understanding has not arisen, so it is uncertain. It is said because certainty and uncertainty are different. Through the method of cutting off superimposition, it is thought that being valid cognition is from others, etc., there is no contradiction. Just as it is said: From oneself, one understands one's own nature, from conventional expression, one understands valid cognition. Just like that. Similarly, the meaning of "in meaning" is valid cognition...

English

It is also like that. Non-valid cognition for self-interest. In the sentences like "How to know from habituation," it is said that what exists in habituation is habituation. Just as the power of habituation, by the very nature of valid cognition, determines itself at all times, so it is said that the very nature of error also determines itself from itself at some times. Likewise, those with cataracts, etc., through the power of habituation, generate knowledge of tangled hairs, etc., and it is only immediately after that that they determine it to be an error, which is obvious. There, the mind is on other objects. Or the cause is faulty. In the sentences like "Harm and so on," it is said that it is because there is no harm. You say it is valid cognition itself. Without harm, there is also no reality. Wanting another valid cognition. It is like what is said. Therefore, it is said because of that reason. At the time of arising, this. It is determined to be valid cognition. In the sentences like "At the time of arising, this," etc., it is said, "At this time of arising, does one determine it to be valid cognition by oneself? Or by another cognition arising together? Or is it arising later?" These are the three possibilities. Among them, it is not by oneself, because all cognitions do not have discrimination in themselves, so it is unreasonable to think, "It is valid cognition." Wanting to recognize it by another cognition is also not possible, because it is accepted that the mind is always hidden. It is also not possible by another cognition arising simultaneously, because two consciousnesses cannot arise simultaneously. It is also not possible by what arises later, because the other cognition has not yet been established, so the cognition to be cognized by it is also not clear, and because it is not clear, it has not been established. If one wants to establish it by another cognition, then one will fall into the fault of infinite regress. Therefore, in any place, it is error. In the sentences like "Also in the clear place," it is said. The Buddhists do not say that merely similar phenomena are valid cognition that harms the clear place. So what is it? There, the meaning of the words "I" and "general characteristic" is valid cognition.
