Even if it is allowed to make refutations, it is to show that according to your view, this is also unreasonable. This is your position, and so on. According to you who claim that 'establishment' is the meaning of words, for any statement of refutation, it is only through understanding that others are excluded, otherwise there is only establishment, this is this position. If there is no refutation of refutation for the statement generated by motivation here, then how can it prevent itself from being non- ಪ್ರಮಾಣ (pramāṇa, measure, valid cognition)? Similarly, the minds of those who oppose the realm of प्रमाण (pramāṇa, measure, valid cognition) will not be different. So, how is this established? Quoting 'some people' etc., the so-called 'some people' refers to the speculators. The so-called 'others' refers to the Buddhists, who consider a little to be प्रमाण (pramāṇa, measure, valid cognition) in itself. For example, self-awareness प्रत्यक्ष (pratyakṣa, direct perception), yogi's knowledge, functional knowledge, अनुमान (anumāna, inference), and प्रत्यक्ष (pratyakṣa, direct perception) with habit, etc. Therefore, because the cause of error is abandoned, it is determined from itself by the power of habit. A little is for others, for example, knowledge arising from motivation that has become the basis of debate, and प्रत्यक्ष (pratyakṣa, direct perception) that has not abandoned the reason for error, etc. Because habit and functional knowledge are seen. If so, then according to your view, अनुमान (anumāna, inference) etc. will not be excluded, because it is प्रमाण (pramāṇa, measure, valid cognition) only in itself. For example, some people think that अनुमान (anumāna, inference) is the cause of the three-mode mark, some think it comes from two modes, some think it comes from the mark of one mode, and its definition is meaningless. Similarly, for the materialists, it should not be established that it is प्रमाण (pramāṇa, measure, valid cognition), because it is determined by itself to be प्रमाण (pramāṇa, measure, valid cognition), it is like this. If you say so, then there is no fault. Because अनुमान (anumāna, inference) arises from the determination of the mark of its own nature and the relationship arising from it, even when doing things that do not deceive function, it is born through association with such things, so it does not deceive that thing.

Because it is definite, it is called self-nature valid cognition. Since the opponents do not fully understand the nature of the sign that produces it, they only argue with each other when inference has not arisen, but not when it has arisen, because its own nature is uncertain. For this very reason, if the teachers think that inference will arise even from barley because the nature of the non-inverted sign has been determined, then this is to explain the characteristic of the nature of the reason for production. Some people argue that it should not be proved to the Lokayata that inference is a valid cognition, which is also unreasonable. We are not trying to prove that inference is a valid cognition. What then? Because the Lokayata, who is ignorant from hearing scriptures with inverted meanings, even if it has been established that inference is a valid cognition, does not use the term like the Samkhyas, therefore, by indicating the nearby object, the term with the object is established, that is, what arises from what has the ability to obtain it, just like the direct perception of one's own meaning. The knowledge arising from the sign, which arises from seeing the sign related to it, also arises from what is to be inferred, and in this way the name is used by indicating the object of the name. In this way, direct perception becomes the term of valid cognition because of the reason of not deceiving meaning, and what else is not deceiving besides what arises from it? As it is said: If direct perception also has no meaning, then non-arising is valid cognition, because the nature of the relation is its cause, so both are the same. Thus it is declared. Therefore, just as the Samkhyas determine that there is no elephant on the tip of the grass, this is also the ignorance of hearing the scriptures. If someone thinks that although wisdom is different, it is self-nature valid cognition, how can it be unreasonable? If you think so, it is said that "because the argument arises from error" and so on, which shows that because the goal of the argument is the fruit of error contrary to certainty, it proves that there is no certainty, which contradicts the promise that self-nature valid cognition itself is inference.
