From what does the absence of exhaustion arise? To explain this, it is said: Just like other valid cognitions, and so on. Dissimilar kinds are not valid cognitions. This is also connected with "the very fact of the root being firmly established." "Because it has other causes" is to explain the reason, that is, to connect the words by asking where the other cause of the definition of valid cognition exists. "The very fact of the root being firmly established" means being firm. For whom does the root abide, unshaken by faults such as inexhaustibility, exist? That is how it is, and its entity is that itself. Thinking, if it is indeed a valid cognition that does not depend on the consciousness that harms, then only the realization that there is no harm can establish that others are not valid cognitions, but otherwise it cannot. Therefore, for the time being, it is said, "other meaning," and so on. "Eliminating" means abandoning, which is a synonym for preventing it from being a valid cognition. Thinking, for the consciousness that harms, just like the first consciousness, there is only the possibility of another harmer. By what can it be certain that this has no harmer?

If it is said that the third consciousness, which fully realizes, also needs to rely on the harmer like the second consciousness, why wouldn't it become like that? Therefore, it is said, "Like that, the harm has not arisen," etc. What is not arisen and has not appeared from the harmer is understanding. Why not doubt? It is said, "Even if it arises from the harmer," etc. Decay is destruction, because it decays from that itself. Also like that, this is not proven with convincing words. The son of the god of wealth refers to Vishnu. The son of Kundali, who arises from Kundali, is the one who accomplishes deeds. If that is the case, then the first consciousness will not become a doubt of harm either. If that is the case, then all consciousnesses will become valid cognitions. For this doubt, therefore, it is said, "Where," etc. Wherever harm exists, as long as the examination of harm has not arisen, it is on that nature itself. There is no that on that wisdom, thus understanding, it is issued from the heart. In order to explain how much harm exists, it is said, "Place and time," etc. What are the place, time, person, and state, it is called the difference of those. The difference of place, etc., is also that some cause harm to some, not all to all. In order to explain that there is no doubt of all to all, it is said, "Place is far away," etc. In some places, it refers to mirages, etc. Doubting as other refers to doubting as other water, etc. Merely going to the vicinity is combined with the boundary of harm. This is explained like this: For where the distance of the place itself is the reason for confusion, there, in order to determine the existence or non-existence of harm, it is only necessary to rely on going to the vicinity, and it is not necessary to rely on time and state, etc., because for there, that is not the reason for confusion. Here, explaining the example is "Like the wisdom of mirages, etc." It refers to the
