It is also unreasonable. Thus, for it, what destruction, which has become something other than the thing, acts as the cause of destruction? Or, is it just this discrimination that the thing itself is the cause of destruction that is at work? For the time being, it is unreasonable for the thing itself to act as the cause of destruction, because this has already been established. If other things act as the cause of destruction, since they have no effect on the thing, and are merely the state of that thing, there is no destruction, and therefore, as the cause of destruction, they have no effect at all. In this way, through extensive examination, the solid thing has been determined. Furthermore, is the nature of the thing inherently solid? Or is it an impermanent nature? If the thing arises from its own cause with an impermanent nature, then, when it has established its own essence, since it is not something that should exist later and in the present, it has no effect at all on the two causes of destruction and existence. If it is the essence of inherently solid nature, then, since its other nature is impossible, there is nothing that can destroy it. Since it exists by itself, there is nothing that can make it exist, therefore, in any case, it has no effect at all on the two causes of existence and destruction. The view that "non-existence is the support" is also unreasonable, because since it is separated from all natures, dependence and action are impossible, just like the horns of a rabbit, etc., therefore, the ability as support is not established. Even if it is established, it is uncertain, because the forms, etc. that are depended on also arise together with the pot, and it will also lead to non-valid cognition, just like this, non-valid cognition also has the ability to generate the complete cutting off of the opposite meaning, and the ability to rely on consciousness will not work at any time, therefore, the valid cognition itself will also become the ability of the nature of non-valid cognition, and there will only be two. Furthermore, if the ability of consciousness does not arise at any time, then consciousness will become empty of all abilities, because how can a dharma that does not arise at any time be its? For example, like the embodied one of space.

Thus it is. If it is said that these consciousnesses, even though they have not been established in the three times, can still experience connection with them, then who taught these wonderful illusions of power? If there is great wonder in this, then what is it? If it is said that it is experienced because of permanence, that is not correct. Because of uncertainty, it will lead to everything having all abilities. If it is said that these are only of consciousness and not of others, then for the dharma that does not depend on others, in having each definite thing, no definite cause has been seen. If that is the case, since there is no cause, it will lead to these being all things, this has already been explained. For those things that do not do anything at all, it is not reasonable to be the basis of something, because the difference of the nature of permanence itself cannot be done, enough of the elaboration. In order to examine the meaning of another proposition, "all valid cognitions are valid cognitions," etc., is cited. It is taught in this way: "Self-nature is valid cognition." This wants to reveal the meaning that: oneself, that is, not relying on other causes, the entry of things that are born later, which is the synonym for the entity of cause. Therefore, there is no opportunity for the faults mentioned above, this is the thought of others. Regarding this, is the result of valid cognition itself, that is, the validity that one possesses, certain? Or is the meaning certain? The result of oneself, this matter does not depend on the cause. Then, what do they depend on? Citing "obtaining self-nature," etc., it is generally revealed that the obtaining of self-nature of things depends on the cause, in order to also apply it to consciousness. Therefore, citing "merely birth," etc., the so-called "own merit" refers to the locative seventh case depending on the generation of certainty. The so-called "thus it is said," etc., the merit that one possesses, that is, the nature of unerringly understanding, and that which is produced by a pure cause, whatever is like that, in order to generate certainty, these do not depend on these causes.
