These are sequential, and the limbs are also experienced sequentially. Isn't it the case that one remembers as one experiences? If it is not clear, how can there be a consciousness of memory that perceives all the letters? It is also unreasonable for letters to appear sequentially to a non-sequential consciousness. After raising this doubt, it is said, "After knowing the last letters," etc. This shows that the first is experience. After that, the immediately arising action gives rise to memory as it is experienced. Then, from those actions, later, simultaneously, another consciousness of memory arises, a collection that ascertains all the letters, because it clings as it is seen. This is established for all opponents, not just something I have examined myself. To show this, it is said, "Even if it is known sequentially." "These" refers to the consciousness of collection. To show that this is also admitted because it has reason, it is said, "If one does not admit," etc. If all memories arise in the order of experience, then, for the sequentially experienced hundred, etc., there would not simultaneously arise a hundred, etc., of conceptual thoughts. The conceptual thoughts of a hundred and a million, etc., would also not arise at different times. Therefore, it is concluded with "Therefore," if that were the case, only the consciousness of collection would become the cause of understanding meaning, not the letters, because they have disappeared for a long time. That is also unreasonable, because understanding meaning immediately from sound is something even children can understand. After doubting this, it is said, "Abiding in that," etc., that is, abiding in the consciousness of collection. What worldly people say is the cause that benefits one's own meaning. Then, even so, are they not completely non-existent because they have disappeared for a long time? How can they abide in that? After doubting this, it is said, "Consciousness with form," etc. Why is it unreasonable without form? Because otherwise,
