Because of following in all times, even if the ear is not well made, it will become its knowledge, so making the ear well is meaningless. The second view is also refuted, that is, "Sound is not the master of the knowable." etc., this is only for understanding. All of these are said on the premise that even knowledge that is not benefited by it is admitted to be the self-nature of enlightenment. Now, in order to show that it is unreasonable for knowledge to be the self-nature of enlightenment without any connection, it is said, "What is the knowledge related to sound?". There are only two kinds of connections between things, namely its self-nature and what arises from it. Otherwise, because there is no benefit. It is unreasonable to regard what does not benefit and what does not benefit as a connection, because it would be too extreme. Because neither of these two kinds of connections exist in knowledge and sound. How can it become the knowledge of the self-nature of enlightenment without any connection? Otherwise, it would be too extreme. Also, if even without connection, because its image is produced, its knowledge is established as the self-nature of enlightenment, that is unreasonable, because it has been admitted that knowledge has no image. Like this, those who analyze do not admit that knowledge has an image. Even if it is allowed to admit, it is still unreasonable, because sound will become hidden. In that case, sound will only become hidden, not manifest. If that is the case, because there is no valid cognition to establish it, the statement that knowledge is its image will not be established. It cannot be established from the reversal of the result either, because it has been admitted that it is not the producer. If someone thinks, according to the view of those who say that there is knowledge, only the producer is the object, according to those views, because it is hidden at all times, how can knowledge realize the image of things? It is true, but from following and reversing, from realizing the result, determine other causes, and the knowledge is different from the blue image.

That which is determined by faith is the method for it. Thus, since the eye, appearance, and attention are the same for all consciousnesses, the differences in the blue color, etc., of consciousness are not made by it. Because of the forceful rejection, whatever is inferred from another cause, it is determined that this difference is made by it. It is established that this appearance of it is made by it, therefore it is apprehended by consciousness. You do not have all of this, because you do not accept it as a cause. If you think, since the eye, etc., are hidden at all times, how can it be determined that all consciousnesses have no difference? This is true, but this thought belongs to the Mind-Only school. The Mind-Only school says that the difference in consciousness, like dreams, etc., is made by the immediate cause, not by external objects. However, if external objects exist, then all of this can be said. If not, even if the result is reversed, how can external objects be established? This should be debated. Only the existence of the cause can establish it, not the external object, because that cause can also exist in dreams, etc. Enough of elaboration. Furthermore, if it is accepted that sound is generative, then there is a fault. To show this, "If it arises from that," etc., is said. "That" means arising from that. It is concluded with "Thus," etc. "Or not" refers to the side of non-generation. "Thus, certainly" refers to when consciousness is of the nature of being permanent and impermanent. Thus, for the time being, having accepted that the ear faculty is purified, by considering the nature of the object as generative and non-generative, it is shown that the purification of the ear faculty is meaningless. Now, in order to show that the purification of the ear faculty itself is impossible, "If the purification is occasional," etc., is said. If the purification is occasional, then the consciousness that is the result of the purification should also be occasional, otherwise...

English

If the cause always exists without deficiency, why does its effect sometimes cease? It is to show that it is also unreasonable for the perfection of the permanent ear to sometimes cease. It is said, "well-made ability," and so on. Thus, the perfection of the ear and so on is determined by the consciousness of the fruit. If it is determined by the fruit, then the well-made will only become the nature of the ability, because the ability itself is determined by the fruit. That ability also becomes the nature of the ear, and is not different, because the fruit arises from it, therefore the ear is not the maker, and the connection is not established. If there is ability, then the consciousness arising from it will always exist. If it does not exist, then at that time the consciousness arising from it will never arise. If that is the case, then that consciousness will not sometimes cease. Therefore, how does the occasional consciousness well show the characteristic of the ear's ability, it is not possible. Again, if the ability to be inferred by the consciousness of the fruit does not become the nature. What is it then? Only sounds and so on cause the ear's previously non-existent ability to sometimes cease, and that is to be inferred by consciousness. Therefore, it is reasonable for the occasional consciousness to show ability, if you think so. When generating ability in the ear, it is said, "When generating ability in the ear," and so on. Becoming self-nature, or other, or the ability of other and non-other, there are three cases. In the first case, according to the ability's own nature, the self of both ears will also become impermanent. From what does it come? Because it arises, that is, appears. Again, if, the ear is not other than ability,
