Why doesn't it become the result itself? Because it has been said, "If it exists, it exists," and so on. For example, if there is an ear, there is the perception of sound. However, just because it exists, it doesn't necessarily follow that the ear has the ability to produce sound. What is it then? Just as there is the ability to grasp, similarly, just because it exists, it only means that sound has the potential, but it doesn't mean that it has the ability to produce it. This is related to the potential itself, but not to the difference in potential. Therefore, it is shown that if one tries to prove the difference in this potential, it is a mistake. Now, how does one understand the difference in the potential to perfect? It is said, "There, the mind is well gathered." Because it is established as permanent through recognition, it is not appropriate to be otherwise. Therefore, by explaining the difference in perfection, the mind is gathered closely. It is not that just because it exists, one can infer the potential to perfect. That is the meaning. Regarding the aspect of perfecting both, "Even if both are perfected, for each one, it becomes a fault of speech." Regarding what was said, "Regarding the aspect of perfecting both, your two faults are reversed." It is said that for both aspects, the two faults previously pointed out are reversed, meaning they are meaningless. How so? It is said, "By what," and so on. "By what" means, for what reason? Whether the ear is perfected or the sound is perfected, whichever is incomplete, sound cannot be understood. For example, even if the sound is perfected, a deaf person cannot hear the sound because the ear is not perfected. Even if one is not deaf, one cannot hear the sound if it is not clearly manifested. Some people think that saying the two faults are reversed is understandable. If sound has pervaded everything, then how is it perceived as various distinct objects like a pot, etc.? For example, because sound has pervaded everything, it should be understood as all-pervading with an undifferentiated nature. For that which has pervaded everything, the difference between near and far is not reasonable, because it exists in everything.

It is also unreasonable to come from some places. The constant dharma is extremely long, extremely short, and extremely inferior, etc., with different natures and different times, which is also unreasonable. Therefore, since the places, times, and natures are different, just like vases, etc., the sounds are different and established as impermanent, how can that be? Because the production of sound is blocked. Otherwise, it is unreasonable. Because the distinction has been made very well, it is certain that it arises from the sound itself. If you say so, what is said here is, for example, mentioning the sun, etc., this shows that the difference in places itself is uncertain. However, aren't different supports such as water the cause of confusion about multiple suns themselves? There is not the slightest cause of confusion in this. Because there is no cause of confusion, what is said here, "there is no cause of confusion," is meant to be clearly presented as a reason with differences. How is that a reason for confusion? Mentioning "the sound itself that manifests," this is also the same because there is a cause of confusion in the different sounds themselves that manifest. "Relying on the sound itself that manifests" is the remaining part of "holding the sound." "Its object" is the object of the sound itself. "It" is the sound. For example, in order to compare, the sound itself that manifests becomes the cause of the delusion of sounds such as severance. Mentioning "uninterrupted," etc., this is "this" is the sound. "There" is the direction of the sky. What is heard is the remaining part of "sound." Because it does not pervade in the middle, it should rely on "only sounds." "Those" are only sounds. "Those and from where they arise" are the sounds. However, even if the sun is one, isn't it not established that it is held by severing from the place? In this way, the eyes cut off the images of the sun, etc., separately and differently in different containers, but not the sun. You do not consider the image to be another object, so when you do not hold the image, you do not see the reason at all. When you think like this, the question of welcoming the answer of others is, mentioning "saying," etc., saying is others.
