For these, the minds, with respect to objects and times, have various differences in appearance, such as fast, slow, and intermediate. These differences are either of the same object or not of various meanings, because they arise holding the appearance of "it is a cow," like the mind of a cow that arises now. Or, whatever mind is the object of the sound of a cow, that is the object of the sound of a cow now, like the object of the sound of a cow that arises there. Saying "the mind of the sound of a cow yesterday is also the object of the sound of a cow" is a reason of nature. In another way, the mind of the sound of a cow now is the subject. The very object of the sound of a cow yesterday is the dharma to be established. "Being the object of the sound of a cow" is the reason. The mind of the sound of a cow yesterday is the example. Explaining this: Or "this is," and so on. "This is" is the mind now. "That is" is the sound of the cow known by the sound of the cow yesterday, the sound of the cow that is the object. The reason is "because it is the object of the sound of the cow." Or, the two minds of yesterday and today are the same object, because they are the object of the sound of a cow, like the mind of one sound of a cow. In that, it is also shown by "two," because it is easy to understand since it is the time of the reason, so it is not said. Or, all the minds of the cow itself, which have different differences in objects and so on, are to be produced by one mind of the cow, because they are the mind of the cow, like one mind of the cow. Before, the mind of the object of the sound of a cow was the subject, and the same object was also to be established. Now, the mind of the object of the kind of the cow itself is the subject, and the very production by one sound of the cow is to be established, this is the difference. Because there is the saying "yesterday" here, it is saying "yesterday," and this also shows the subject. That entering is the dharma to be established, the rest is easy to understand. "Cow" and "heard sound" are showing the subject. That which was heard yesterday is also the dharma to be established, because it has already been shown before.

The so-called "knowing" is for the purpose of understanding the sound of a cow. Or, "all the words that express" refers to the subject of the proposition. If it relies for a long time, then that is the dharma to be proven. Relying on the association of experience, in order for the knowable to enter into knowledge. This is called the reason. The so-called "relying on the association of experience" is because there is both reliance on the association of experience, and knowledge enters into the knowable, so it is said that way. Therefore, one should firmly understand that the characteristic of reliance is long-term reliance. Here, it is emphasized that it relies on time, not on place like mountains, etc. The so-called "like the generality of smoke" is an example, because it does not follow its own characteristics, so it is not a true sign, but only a generality. The so-called "unstable" and so on, is to explain the opposite. The so-called "at that time having a reason," that time is just that time. In the time of expression, for the association that the reason itself has that does not follow, it is called that, and its object is that itself. However, in this way, can't one also say that vases and so on are one? For the clear consciousness of vases and so on that are different in place and time, either they have the same object, or they do not have various meaningful objects, because the thought "this is a vase" arises, just like the consciousness of a vase that arises now. Like that and so on. Vases and so on are also not considered or seen to be the same, therefore, for the doubt that all these reasons are mistaken, "genus" and so on are mentioned. If through genus, that is, through the self-nature of genus, vases and so on are inferred to be one, then at that time it is proving what has already been established. That is the part of "this is a genus." Constant and the other is considered to be destroyed. It is said like that. If it is inferred to be one through clear self-nature, then at that time there is also no mistake. The vow is because it is harmed by direct perception and so on. If it is because it has an object that is not harmed, then this is the reason.
