If equal strength also causes harm, then why doesn't inference cause harm to the other party? So it is said, "The one with intelligence," and so on. Then, how does inference get harmed by it? Because it is said, "Treatise," and so on. As it is said, the words of the wise are direct perception, but inference contradicts direct perception, so it does not become a valid means of knowledge. If it is the same as direct perception, then how can it be more powerful than inference? So it is said, "Scripture," and so on. The phrase "being a valid means of knowledge" is relative to ease and is the seventh case of location. Inference is not like that, because it relies on examples and has faults, because the faults are harmed by the knowledge arising from intelligence that is the same as direct perception. However, isn't it the case that whatever is established for both is refuted? For Buddhists, scripture is also not a valid means of knowledge, because it is determined that there are only two valid means of knowledge. How can a scripture that has not been established as a valid means of knowledge harm Buddhists? To this doubt, it is said, "Intelligent understanding of meaning," and so on. Thinking in this way, merely by promising, a scripture that has not been established becomes a valid means of knowledge, merely by wishing, things become established or not established, this is not the case. Then what is it? It is through the power of valid means of knowledge, whatever is established is established for both, for example, the knowledge arising from the words of fire sacrifice, etc., this has been proven to be the most excellent teaching. Therefore, how can one say that it is not a valid means of knowledge? Your words are merely words devoid of wisdom, this is the meaning of the summary. The term "unwilling" refers to worldly people. The term "willing" refers to what worldly people desire. The term "long-lasting" refers to the intelligence of Shakyamuni Buddha, etc., because the actions of holding it, etc., have become external. The term "manifest connection is necessary" refers to the manifest connection to intelligence. What is said to be necessary is that for those who have the characteristics of offering sacrifices, etc., it is said in that way.

It should be known. The one called the enemy of Brahma (ཚངས་པ་) is skilled in the Vedas. Or, the knowledge that comes from that is Brahma (ཚངས་པ་). On the other hand, although it is not harmed by the scriptures, nevertheless, the meaning of the proposition, direct perception, etc., have been refuted, because it has been shown to be harmed by valid cognition. Also, "other" etc. have been declared. This explains the harm of direct perception. Thus, it is for knowing "that is this" at all times. From the direct perception called "knowing," impermanence is established. Because it is known everywhere, pervasiveness is also established, so who can determine the contradiction between permanence and pervasiveness? No one can. The nature of pervasiveness is pervasiveness and self-nature. The reversed ones are impermanence and non-pervasiveness. Therefore, the one called "therefore" is the conclusion. The one called "all times" refers to the past, future, and present. The one called "this" refers to the reversed. The one called "flames, etc." makes one suspect that knowing is confused. The word "etc." also includes newly grown hair, nails, grass, and the flow of rivers, etc. Why? If one asks whether there is also the knowing of "this is that," "this grass is that grass," "this river flow is that flow" in them? The answer is: there is not. Thus, in that, one knows the general characteristic of flames, etc., but that is also the one who desires permanence, so how can there be confusion? Any clear nature that is impermanent, because there is no knowing, so how can there be confusion? The one called "in some parts" refers to small and large, and extremely small, etc. The one called "with some differences" refers to smallness and going upwards, etc. If one asks how to know? The answer is: it has been declared "determined by different thoughts," meaning that it is known here by different thoughts. In some places, it is read as "by clarity," and the meaning is: this is the meaning of having abandoned different thoughts. Explaining the harm by inference, i.e., "place and time," etc., i.e., the clarity of the sound of a cow.
