If the nature of experience, that is, the essence, is different from consciousness, then at that time, consciousness cannot experience things. That self who experiences things, like this, is itself clear. Whatever is said like this is reasonable. Sometimes, some people propose that consciousness and experiencing things are different. Even if they assert that, it should be said that it does not exist. That is the experience that is different from consciousness. If it is admitted, then it is admitting that the nature of consciousness is a characteristic that is separate from awareness. If one admits that consciousness is different from experience, then it will lead to complete abandonment, because it will lead to self-cognition. Someone thinks that because consciousness is the nature of experiencing things, it is not considered clear. Then what is it? They explain that it is only because the nature of experience is clear. To this, it should be said "from itself." If consciousness only arises as the nature of experience, and not as the nature of experiencing things, even so, it cannot be established that the objects are different cognitions, such as "this is blue, that is not yellow," and so on. Why can't it be established? It should be said "how does consciousness" and so on. The so-called "for others" refers to those who hold the view that "characteristics exist in external objects, while consciousness has no characteristics," that is, those who proclaim non-characteristic consciousness. To those who say "that self who experiences things, like this, is itself clear," it should be said "if this is" and so on. If consciousness does not recognize itself by the nature of matter, then, if it is not manifest from itself, then experiencing things should also not be manifest. Someone thinks, if consciousness is not manifest, why would experiencing things also become manifest? They think that just as form is not manifest, sound will not become manifest either. To this, it should be said "consciousness itself is" and so on. Apart from experience, there is no certain grasping of the essence of other things. Without certainly grasping the previously existing other,
