Because it is completely established. Furthermore, if it is said that there is no example of something that is temporarily not established and beneficial to the "self," that is also incorrect. This is because only what can be established can be of benefit. If something does not produce a distinction of its own nature, then it cannot be of benefit to it, such as the snowy mountains and perforators. If it is said that the body and so on also do not produce the distinction of the "self" being permanent and singular, this is because the universality cannot be ascertained. The reason is also not unestablished, because the distinction of its own nature is not different from the "self." If it does that, it will become only the action of the "self," and in that case, it will become the fault of impermanence. If the distinction of its own nature is different, then because there is no reason for connection, it will not become the relationship of "this of it." Therefore, it does not benefit the permanent at all, because it does not act on it at all. If someone says who would consider the body to be the "self," that is also incorrect, because there are some who say that, such as the Vedic proponents, who say that the body and so on are the nature of the "self" completely transformed. Therefore, one relies on that to refute. If it is said that non-existence is the object of the subsequent statement, therefore one should also state what possesses the "self," that is also irrelevant, because the meaning of the subsequent statement is not only to refute existing things, but to refute fabricated things, because one cannot refute existing things. Therefore, the meaning fabricated by others due to error is the meaning of the subsequent statement. This quotation, after being repeated, is to prevent the wrong view of others from being stated as correct. If it is not so, if you refute that lamps and so on are not momentary, which is commonly held by Buddhists, then the following dispute will arise: the momentariness that you refute is evident in the statement of refutation without a subsequent statement. If someone says who would consider the body to have a "self," that is also incorrect, because in some people's view, the "self" is like a blue thumbprint.

I, with a measure similar to half a fruit, because I am embodied, therefore exist in the body, so it is reasonable to refute it. If the connection between the body and self is refuted, then the statement "there is no example" is also not established. Because there is no mutual help and benefit, just like the snow mountain and the vajra, the self and the body are not connected, which can be established as before. If the particular is refuted, then the statement "it is a universal understanding" is uncertain. Even if you refute that lamps, etc., are momentary, you will not admit the universality of momentariness. If you think that we only call lamps, etc., momentary because they do not exist for a long time, therefore the universal momentariness is established. If that is the case, then the usage of the word "I" is also only what we consider to be the basis of arrogance, therefore the universal self is established. If you say "the word 'I' is an impermanent object," etc., these two statements are also irrelevant because they are not admitted. One will be confused, and the word "I" does not admit any object in reality, nor is it different from form, etc. The word "permanent" is also not established as referring to permanent things in reality. The word "I" on the body, etc., is not used by approximation, but because it is recognized without confusion. Therefore, it is not established for what is already established. Therefore, if this is the case, then the dharma called "I," because it is not established by being harmed by valid cognition, so whatever label you put on it as the agent and the eater is without basis like the son of a barren woman, therefore no separate refutation is made against it. Because the basis is refuted, these are abandoned. How will the fault of doing being wasted and not doing meeting not arise, in that way it will show the examination of the relationship between karma and result. This is the individual examined universally by the rationalists and particularists in the condensed commentary on the Difficult Points of Reality.
