Everything is selfless, just like external vases and so on. The inner life and body, as well as mind and wisdom and suffering, happiness, etc., are also things that possess the nature of reality, etc. This is called the reason of self-nature. Furthermore, how is the pervasiveness in this proven? If it is said to be with a self, etc. If it is said to be indeed with a self, and the body, etc., is blessed by the self, then the cause of these will become the self. If it is not the cause, then blessing cannot be abandoned, because it would be too extreme. If that is the case, and it has its cause, the body, etc., which has the cause of the self, will become permanent because the cause is not incomplete, and it will become without order. If someone thinks that these are indeed faults of permanence, but the nature of reality, etc., will not revert, then it is said that permanence is also, etc. The body, etc., that exists permanently will become without function, and this part needs to be completely transformed and connected through tone, because permanence and order and simultaneous action are contradictory, that is what is thought. If the ability to function disappears, then the nature of reality will also revert, because the characteristic of reality is the ability to produce function. If the nature of reality reverts, then the dharma of reality, existence, etc., will also revert, therefore pervasiveness is established. The explainer says, then what is the meaning that the selflessness wants to establish? If it is said to be temporarily unfavorable to me, then there is no example, because there is nothing that is unfavorable to me. Or if you deny that the body is not me, then who would think that the body is me? Because non-existence is the object of subsequent sentences, so with me, it should also be said what it is. For example, just like saying there is no bee, the connection of non-existence without subsequent sentences has not been seen. If you deny the self of the body, then you are establishing on the basis of what has already been established, because who would think that the body has a self? Also, if you say that the body and I are not related, then there is no example either.

It is not like that. All of these are specific negations, and even with specific negations, it is not a general understanding. If it were so, then what should be negated would be allowed. If one argues, "My sound is impermanent because it is sound," even if it is established, it is not certain that it is a permanent sound. The body and so on are nominally designated, and therefore, they can be expressed by the term "I," which is proving what is already established. If one argues that by being an impermanent entity different from the body and so on, it proves that the object of the term "I" is impermanent, then it is contradictory because it admits an object different from form and so on. This is what the opponent says. The response to this is: Saying "The same applies to pots, etc." This objection also applies to you. For example, you also believe that external pots and so on are not blessed by "I" and are not the basis for enjoyment, so you consider them to be without self. If it were not so, then the living body would not be without self, because it would follow that it does not possess life and so on, just like pots and so on. In that case, you would not accept the example of such a consequence. If that is the case, then how are pots and so on without self? If one temporarily says, "It is not helpful to me," and so on, then the objection is the same. Therefore, through the blessing of "I" or in any way that is not the basis for enjoyment, for all external pots and so on, both you and I commonly establish the absence of self. Moreover, you object, saying, "This living body is not without self." By objecting, one can only understand that the living body has a self, but not the dead body and pots and so on. We ourselves will prove that the living body is not without self because it is an entity and so on. Therefore, the idea that "It is not helpful to me" and so on is baseless, because you also do not have it.
