Therefore. Words are all promised by others. As said and so on, it is the self-nature of difference. The word "etc." refers to categories, etc. Therefore, it depends on convention. As it is, it speaks of the meaning of investigation. In order to abandon the uncertainty of both reasons. These are different and so on. As said and so on, because it cannot become a convention and does not depend on others, it has already been established that convention is impossible and convention is meaningless on its own nature. Therefore, its two reasons do not retreat to the inconsistent side, and there is no hesitation. However, and so on. Others show that the first reason is uncertain. Just as convention is impossible and meaningless on its own nature, it is the same on the side of eliminating others. If so, because convention is impossible, it is not reasonable for words to be merely clear, so the reason is uncertain. That is convention. How to have fruit, such existence is the remainder. Also, how is convention impossible in that? The speaker and so on said, the word "ni" is the meaning of cause. Because the nature of the image eliminates what is the realm of convention, it is established simultaneously for both the speaker and the listener. Why? The knowledge of those who see this side is what each should know separately, and the knowledge of others is not what others should know on this side. In the true meaning, the characteristic of the nature of the image, which is not different from knowledge, is elimination. If so, for both the speaker and the listener, the meaning of the branch of the agreement, the only one has not been established. Where is the convention or holding? For those who have not established things, as speakers, convention cannot be done, and it is impossible for listeners to hold on to it, because it is too much. In this way, the image of the meaning of the existence of one's own separate consciousness, what the listener understands is not what the speaker knows, and what the speaker also

Consciousness is not determined by the listener, but because of each person's own appearing consciousness. This is to show its meaninglessness. "At the time of expression," etc., are mentioned. The image experienced by the speaker or listener at the time of expression is not experienced at the time of convention, because it is momentary and has passed for a long time. Similarly, what is experienced at the time of convention is not seen at the time of expression, because at that time, other things are experienced. Otherwise, if after expressing something, one uses other conventions to express it, it is unreasonable, because it would be too extreme. The questions and answers are made with "self and one's own," etc. Those who criticize with the fault of "it is impossible to express this" do not think that the object of true knowledge is the meaning that can be expressed by sounds themselves. Therefore, all these conventions arising from sounds are considered to be false in the essence of one's own appearance, just as two people with cataracts see two moons. Because it is only from the awakening of the habit of meaningless speech that the mere conceptualization of determining meaning from sounds arises. Because the image arises, it is said that it can be expressed by sounds, but not by the expression itself. In this regard, if the speaker and listener's own appearing consciousness is also the same in reality, just like two people with cataracts, because the seeds of falsehood are the same, the speaker and listener are also equally attached to external objects. Just as the speaker thinks: the meaning that I conceptualize, he can also conceptualize. Similarly, it should also be applied to the listener. How do we know that these speakers and listeners are attached to the same meaning? No, even if they do not understand in reality, it is because the seeds of falsehood are the same. Even if it exists in reality in its own appearing way, like two people with cataracts, this convention itself is false, this has been explained. Therefore, because of attachment to the same meaning, expression is reasonable. Here, an example is given, such as the example of cataracts.

Etc. The term "similar to oneself" means the same as "me," which means different from the vague. If it is said that "it is not without meaning," then, the so-called "this is its pervasion," that is, in the period of entering words and terms, the speaker and listener of the pervasion itself, due to attachment, desire the image of that definite meaning, but it is not the ultimate truth, because in the period of terms, the speaker and listener also cling to the things seen before and after as appearing as one. Furthermore, why is the ultimate truth not desired? Because it is said "transformed by sound," etc. This is the investigation of the meaning of sound in the Condensed Explanation of Suchness, that is, the twenty-first (chapter). Condensed Explanation of Suchness, Kamalaśīla.
