That which is the cause of arising, that is it, it is the difference of wisdom. The rest is easy to understand. In order to indicate that meaning with valid cognition, it is said, "my" consciousness, etc. By the word "etc." in "body, etc.," mind, faculties, and feelings are grasped. "For the sake of knowing" is an analogy, dependent on causes, and possessing arising, etc., and other things besides these should also be grasped. The lord who makes happiness also makes other aspects of valid cognition, desires, etc., are dependent on something, because they are the result of something existing, like form, etc. To show this, it is said, desires, etc. Because something existing has been said, the distinction of "something existing" shows that it is connected with the result. Valid cognition by the illuminator. Connection is, the consciousness of the color, taste, smell, and touch of Devadatta, etc., are the cause of one and many, because they are connected by the consciousness of "I," and the signs made, like the movement of a dancer's eyebrows, instantly give rise to the consciousness of many men. The meaning of this is, for example, as soon as a dancer moves her eyebrows, we should throw clothes, like that, the makers of many signs are many, and become the cause of many consciousnesses, because the eyebrow movement is one, therefore I see it. I see it, thus connecting. Likewise, here too, because the cause of the consciousness of various objects is one, it is a connection, whatever is the one cause, that is called "I." The initial connection, I see, I hear, such consciousnesses, etc., are made by the cause of one consciousness, the movement of the dancer's eyebrows, which shows that the consciousnesses are the same object, is the connection. In all ways, whatever takes one meaning as the cause, the connection of consciousnesses is called connection. In order to show valid cognition by itself, it is said, consciousness of form, etc., is easy to understand. This is its connection.

Another view is that the word "I" refers to something other than the collection of body, senses, consciousness, wisdom, and feelings, because it is a separate individual different from a definite category, so it is a single word, just like the sound of things like a vase. The explanation is as follows, for example, "I" and so on. "Different from a definite category" means that wisdom and senses, etc., are different from the wisdom, etc. that constitute the category, which is the meaning of "different from..." "As indicated by the Dharma" means simply by expressing a meaning different from wisdom, etc. "Anything so completely certain" means simply through an independent individual different from a definite category. Furthermore, in order to prove the existence of the self in a negative way, it is necessary to use argumentation: this living body is not selfless, because it would lead to separation from life, etc., just like things like a vase. The explanation is as follows, "living" and so on. The "selflessness" mentioned here does not mean that this living body, or that this self does not have selflessness and self-nature, but that its existence is certain. If you ask how to understand the nature of permanence and pervasiveness, then, first of all, show the view of quantification: when it does not exist, my complete understanding can be recognized by the self's initial cognition at the time of just coming out of the mother's womb, because it is my complete understanding, just like the self's initial complete understanding. Similarly, suffering, etc. should also be included. This is also an inference of the permanent self. Now let's show this: "All later knowledge" and so on. "Like the first" means that the first of the knowledge that arises later is that first. In order to prove its pervasiveness, it is necessary to show the view of quantification: earth, water, fire, and consciousness, these things that become the object of inverted cognition and exist for a long time, are related to my self, because they have the nature of body, power, otherness, and non-otherness.
