Eh! In reality, certain characteristics that need to be eliminated are not expressed through correct words, because how can words touch certain things? Because no indication has been made anywhere, this has already been said. Like this, even if the consciousness arising from words is not an external object, it is still its own grasping, that is, it generates the certainty of determining its own appearance as external, but in reality it does not touch the nature of things, because it does not truly determine that itself. If so, then how does the teacher say that the meaning of having characteristics different from others is expressed through words such as "blue lotus"? Therefore, it is said, "Definers, through..." and so on. What is it that you want to express? It says, "Any thing, different from others..." and so on. The meaning is that there are two forms: external and existing in consciousness. Among them, the external is actually not expressed through words, but only in order to generate the discrimination that determines it, through approximate imputation, it is said to be the meaning of words. The necessity of imputation is also to eliminate the expression of kinds, which is the general meaning. Now the meaning of the branches is to be expressed, the so-called "different from others" is different from the other itself, that is, it is difference. Through the cause or co-actor that is different from others, the characteristics of things such as trees are determined, which is the synonym of "through being different from others." This refers to the synonym of "For other things, through difference, having characteristics," where "through difference" is explained as the meaning of the third case. The so-called "through words" is through names. In order to show that the meaning existing in consciousness is actually expressed through correct words, it is said, "Anything existing in consciousness..." and so on. The so-called "this" refers to words. If you ask, how can these be combined with the characteristics that are different from others? It says, "Through the difference of this..." and so on. The so-called "immediately after" is "Any thing, different from others..." and so on. Because those meanings existing in consciousness also appear to be different from others. If words cannot even understand some parts of things, then how does the teacher...

If someone says that through "that" one can understand some parts of things that are different from other things. Therefore, it is said "different from other things" etc. However, since images are the dharma of consciousness, how can they be part of things themselves? Therefore, it is said "different from other things" etc., because seeing things that are different from other things is wisdom, and because one mistakenly clings to things that are different from other things as their own nature. Therefore, the image itself is clung to as a part of things. This can also be related to the meaning of "through being different from other things." It is said "in the sense of cause" etc. As before, here the question of "how to explain the difference of being different from other things," just as it is shown through "any thing is different from other things" etc., so it should be related here as well. Or, showing that this is the third characteristic that is so everywhere is "self-nature." However, isn't being different from other things not the dharma of external things? How then can it become the causal thing or the acting thing for understanding images? Therefore, it is said "if from things of different kinds" etc. If things are different from things of different kinds, then it is the nature of the image. If it is not the nature of things that are different from things of different kinds, then, therefore, it can be considered the wisdom of the acting thing of things that are different from other things. For "the difference of other natures is not the cause of producing different knowledge" etc., it is said "the difference of not being a cow" etc. If one wants to show that the nature of not being different from other things is the difference of things themselves, then all these refutations are reasonable. As long as one accepts being different from other things as the difference of things themselves, then it will become the same wisdom as the difference and the following difference. For example, saying that something that is not a cow is different from a cow, this is the same as horses etc.

Whatever is a cow is its very nature, not something else. If that is the case, if one wishes to understand anything that has merely excluded other distinctions, then, even if one says that this is a cow that is distinct from what is not a cow, in reality, it is only realizing that it is the very self of that cow, just like 'otherness itself.' 'Otherness itself' means that it is not other than other objects, but it is that itself, for if it were not so, that object would not be established as other than that. That is to say, even if it is an object that is distinct from that, being distinct from others is precisely what makes the object appear in the mind for the distinguished. If one thinks that in the world, the distinguished and the distinction are known to be non-different, like a person and a stick. If 'distinction' is also an object, then how can this be its distinction? If one thinks like this, then it is said, 'even if there is no difference,' etc. In reality, no distinction of anything is reasonable, because what does not help each other becomes the distinction itself. Even if one admits that they help each other, since the cause does not exist at the time of the result, they do not arise simultaneously, therefore they cannot be the distinction and the distinguished object. Even if they arise simultaneously, at that time, since the self is completely perfect, there is no mutual assistance, therefore it cannot be the distinction and the distinguished object. Thus, all things abide in their own nature, just like an iron hook. These are merely mixed together by conceptual thought. Therefore, if in reality conceptual thought and what corresponds to it are not different, then it also becomes the distinguished object and the distinction object depending on the difference of marking. Whenever manifest things are not the object of speech, therefore they are not the manifested. Having said, 'Whatever is manifest is not the object of speech,' etc., to this it is said, 'Manifestation is also,' etc., because 'manifest things are not what is spoken' is not established, like this, what we say that manifest things are not what is spoken, this is only so when thinking in the ultimate truth, and not even in the conventional truth. In the conventional truth, if not observed
