Just as in "non-earth," the direct result of a sound indicating following after things like "cow" is understanding the following, which is indirectly obtained through understanding the opposite. The reason is explained as follows: "Because of what," etc., because proving following does not exist in something that does not possess the opposite. Then what is it? It is precisely not being confused in distinguishing different categories. There is nothing that does not return from different categories, therefore, the two results of one sound are only non-contradictory. Why is that? Therefore, "for its own sake," etc., is mentioned, if one sound is simultaneously considered as two results that are the characteristic of knowledge of direct proof and negation, then, just like the phrase "eats during the day," when one wants to understand the result of one being obtained directly and the other indirectly, there is no contradiction. Also, what is said as "for negating non-cow," etc., is also excluded, because there is no commitment. We have not committed that the sound directly negates non-cow. Then what is it? It has already been shown that it is indirect. To what was said, "whose non-cow returns, the universal is what is said," "such as" etc. is mentioned, "such as" means the state of mind that clings to external self-nature. Explaining the rationality of this is "speckled," etc., because for all speckled things, etc., it is determined as the same self-nature as "cow," therefore they are called universal. Indicating the self-nature of external objects is also a term used due to the knowledge of illusion, but in reality it is not so, which is what is meant by "because of clinging to things." If the universal that relies on external objects becomes a thing, and sometimes a thing is noticed, then, from seeing its similar qualities, it will be mistaken for the universal, therefore, as long as the real thing does not exist for you, it is not unreasonable to mistake it for the universal, therefore, after welcoming the doubt, "knowing one's own self-nature," etc. is mentioned, because "instant" refers to relying on seeing similar qualities, etc.

Because there isn't, just like the knowledge of seeing two moons, that kind of knowledge arises only from inner confusion. Not all confusions arise from seeing what accords with the Dharma. Then what is it? It is also because it comes from inner confusion, so there is no fault. Therefore, to show that for what is already established, it will not become the fault of establishing. It also said, "That very form itself," etc., the form of the mind that clings to external objects is called "excluding others," and the meaning of sound, like the general characteristics of external objects becoming real things, is stated. To explain the cause of this: "Like that, it is determined by confusion." "Like that" refers to clinging to the nature of the general characteristic and the nature of the real thing. The cause of the meaning of sound itself and the nature of exclusion is: because of clinging to external objects, the mind arises from fabrication. Because the appearance is different from others, etc., it has already been said in the beginning. Again, why doesn't it become a general characteristic in the ultimate truth? It said, "Truly," etc., in the ultimate truth, these things that are not different from the mind, after becoming other meanings, become general characteristics, then how can they follow other meanings? As it is said: "Not different from consciousness, how can it follow other meanings?" Therefore, for what is already established, it will not become the fault of establishing. You do not think that the form of the general characteristic called "cow-ness" is the non-existent nature of becoming a real thing. Then what is it? It is the general characteristic of cow-ness, etc., of the ultimate truth that abides on the variegated colors, etc., of external objects, and one that follows it is imputed. Therefore, it is thought that it is not establishing for what is already established. If it is said that refutation is the same as self-nature, etc., then what is said is because there is no commitment, so there is no fault. Whatever is of the minds of horses, etc., to those things that are said, it said, "If again," etc., it is only for understanding. Whatever is said that sound becomes meaning, it does not depend on meaning, to those things that are said, it said, "That is for meaning," etc., for those conceptualizations that are related to things through indirectness, even if it is confusion.
