It is desired to say, "It operates in this way." Those sounds and signs, if they do not exist as common things, then they should not be involved. Therefore, in order to show "through what is understanding of exclusion done," it refers to "separation from following," and so on. "Separation from following" means without following. Those, referring to sounds and signs, if they do not exist, then exclusion does not exist, this is the remaining part to be understood. If following is done through one's own characteristics, then will sounds and signs be involved? The answer is: It is said, "Non-common has no following." If one's own characteristic is not common, not relying on others, then how will it follow? Therefore, if exclusion is examined in that way, then sounds and signs will not be involved. Even if involvement is allowed, if that is the case, then the admission that these are valid cognitions will fail, to show this, it is "exclusion also," and so on. If there is no confusion about the object to be understood, then sounds and signs will become valid cognitions. The object to be understood, you consider to be exclusion, but that is not established because there is no entity, because that itself is without inherent existence. Therefore, please say where, that is, on what object, do sounds and signs operate together, that is, without confusion? The answer is: If so, what should be done? It is said, "Those," and so on. "Those" refers to sounds and signs. "On that" refers to operating together. The characteristic of valid cognition is because it is not deceptive, this is what is thought. If merely because dissimilar kinds are not seen, sounds and signs do not grasp operating together, will one's own meaning be understood? The answer is: It is said, "Not seeing those," saying "merely" is for the purpose of distinguishing seeing following. Why will it not be? It is said, "All are," and so on. For all, that is, similar kinds, dissimilar kinds, and one's own meaning. If that is the case, then this is one's own meaning, this is another's meaning, understanding like that, that is, knowledge will not be different. If one's own meaning is also not understood, then for that, also because it is not seen, like another's meaning, this is the conclusion.

In some cases, the term "to be understood" is used, which does not differ in meaning from "to be understood," that is, "to be expressed." Therefore, if the use of sound and correct signs and the accepted measure become invalid in this way, it is not reasonable to consider exclusion as the meaning of sound. When mentioning "similarity is not established," etc., it is to dispel the doubts of others accepting, such as "even if there is no similarity." If even without similarity, the exclusion of dappled things, etc., can be understood, then why are cows and horses not understood? Because there is no difference. The Brahmin said "cows and horses, etc." to express the characteristics of these. To show that there is no difference, "from dappled" etc. are used. For example, "Where does the exclusion of non-cows enter?" Just as it does not apply to horses because it is different from dappled, so too, it will not apply to yellow because there is incompatibility with it. Similarly, it should also be applied to dappled things, etc., because there is no difference in all aspects. Furthermore, just as it is impossible to express with one's own characteristics, etc., exclusion is also unreasonable, and to show this, "excluding non-cows also through the senses," etc. are used. One who expresses with one's own determined meaning can express, but no one determines the exclusion of others through the senses. First, it refers to the time before the naming, at the time when names and named things are related. This is because they are not things, and the senses are the objects of things. If someone thinks that sounds are combined by identifying one's own characteristics that are different from others, then it is mentioned that "sound does not apply to others," meaning that it applies to one's own characteristics other than excluding others. If exclusion cannot be determined by things, but can be determined by inference, then "previously shown" etc. are mentioned. For this, the previously shown aspect is separate from the aspect that follows. The use of sound and correct signs is not
