Actions and so on have been mentioned. Conditioned phenomena are of three types: force, habit, and duration-cessation. Among these, what is called 'force' refers to earth, water, fire, wind, and mind—these five material elements of sentient beings—which arise in dependence on the distinction of being overcome by effort. That is, it is associated with the continuity of the determined action of direction, with matter related to touch, and with contradiction. Similarly, what power prevents an arrow, and so on, from falling midway? This is caused by the distinction of effort and has the cause of the distinction of karma. Therefore, this is established as being able to be inferred from the result of the determined action of direction. For rubble and so on, it arises from the phenomenon produced by throwing. What is called 'habit' refers to what arises from the knowledge of one's own qualities, and this is a statement of the cause of knowledge. That is, its existence is proven by inferring from the results of remembering and recognizing what has been seen, heard, and experienced. Duration-cessation refers to the qualities of material things of sentient beings, which are changed by effort, and the distinction of the arrangement of hard parts exists at other times, and it causes it to cease as it exists on its own basis as before. For example, folding palm leaves and so on for a long time, and although they are unfolded by stretching, they remain in the same state. For bows, branches, horns, and so on, and clothes that are bent downwards, the result is obvious. The term 'all' means that all three situations are the same. Among these, what is called 'force' is not established as the result of stating the continuity of action, because the momentary cessation that pervades all collections of things has already been proven. Therefore, there, since all things disappear after obtaining their own nature, there is no action that can become the cause of the continuity of any action. However, if one wants to regard the continuity of the action of things arising universally in the realm, having completely abandoned their own object of close acquisition, as the cause of action, then this is also uncertain. That is, from the continuity of becoming the nature of such a form, it can be inferred that the material that arises in this way is preceded by cause and condition, and is not the conditioned phenomenon as described above.

Because following along with it is not established anywhere. Furthermore, if the power of such compounded things prevents arrows and the like from falling, then those things will never fall, because at all times, the cause of hindering the fall—power—remains. If that is the case, then how can it be justified that an arrow shot into the undifferentiated space is suddenly seen to fall? It is not possible to say that it falls because its power diminishes due to encountering animate bodies, wind, and so on, because then it should fall from the very beginning. Encountering wind that is contrary to it is always present. If one thinks that the power is definitely strong from the beginning, and even if it encounters wind, it can overcome the encounter with wind in particular, and thus carry the arrow to another place, then if that is the case, why does it not carry it to a very distant place, and who made its power smaller later? An arrow shot into the middle of the sky, encountering undifferentiated wind at all times, is also seen to fall in between. It is not possible to say that the power later becomes something else, because there is no cause for it to arise as something else. Arrows and the like are simply not constantly gathered at all times. It is also unreasonable to say that the cause called karma later becomes special, because the same arguments and examinations can be applied to it as well. Even if the power becomes something else, because there is no cause for the previous one to cease, it remains in its original state, so the arrow will definitely not fall. The cause of its destruction—encountering wind—is also not possible, because then it should fall from the very beginning, as has already been stated. To refute the so-called habituation to wind at all times, the term "habituation" and so on are mentioned. If one merely establishes later habituation from the results of memory and so on, then that is establishing what is already established. Just as encountering an object that has the nature of power, which has been familiarized through previous experience, is no different, so this is nothing here. Regarding what habit
