Namo. Furthermore, regarding the refutation by means of valid cognition here, it is "if constant" and so on. If someone asserts that the cause of gross things like mountains is that atoms are constantly existent, then, since the cause of their gross effects is without limit, they should only arise simultaneously. The proposition is: whatever has an uninterrupted collection of causes arises simultaneously, like many sprouts growing simultaneously. The effect of constant atoms, appearing as divisible things, is also a collection of uninterrupted causes, which is the reason of nature. If the collection of causes does not arise, then since there is no difference, it should follow that it never arises at all, which is the refutation by means of valid cognition. Someone might think that there are three kinds of causes: the assembling cause, the non-assembling cause, and the causal condition. Among them, whatever effect assembles in something, that is its cause, for example, the second atom is the cause of two atoms. Whatever becomes merely the cause of something that does not assemble in something, that is the non-assembling cause, for example, a substance with limbs is merely the possessor of limbs. The remaining cause is the causal condition, for example, dharma and so on, which is the distinction of these. In this regard, relying on having and so on will become non-pervasive, therefore the cause is not complete and does not establish, therefore, the doubt that the reason does not establish. "Those having and so on" and so on are stated, if atoms and so on make some distinction by having and so on, then at that time they will rely on them. Since atoms and so on are constant, if there is no other that can make a distinction, then how can they rely on having and so on? Bodies and gross things like earth are also not produced simultaneously, because bodies and so on are seen to be produced gradually. Therefore, the reverse proposition is: whatever is the cause of a gradual effect is impermanent, like the achiever of the effect of gradual sprouts and so on.

Like seeds and so on. Atoms are also the same, which is called the reason of nature. Because the Vaisheshikas said pramana in order to establish that atoms are permanent. It is clearly believed that atoms are produced, not having the dharma of existence, because it is not the object of pramana that establishes existence, like a rabbit's horn. Existence, that is, the dharma of possession, is the dharma of existence, that is, existence itself. Having it is attainment, which is synonymous with the word "existence." Negating it is the production of atoms, meaning that there is no cause for the production of atoms. In order to show that these pramanas are those that have preliminary welcome doubts, it is said, "If you want atoms to be produced," etc., connecting and saying that it is believed that they do not have the dharma of producing atoms. Existence is the object, understanding its meaning, that is, the need, whatever pramana exists for, it is called that. The rest is easy to understand. This shows that the established atoms are not permanent by inference, because it is said that "existence without cause is permanent," because the absence of cause itself establishes that atoms are permanent. By "no, because it is not established," etc., it is said that the cause itself is not established. However, aren't ropes, etc., only the cause of pashmina, etc.? Not the cause of atoms, then how can it be said that ropes, etc., are seen as the cause of atoms? Because it is said, "Because of pashmina, etc.," it is thought that this will also be shown below. Furthermore, even if the pramana that takes the object and time, and the meaning destroyed by nature, is reversed, it will not be contradictory, therefore, in order to show that the cause is uncertain, it is said, "Having attachment," etc., it is thought that "there is no certainty for the meaningless" like meat eaters, etc. Thus, the substance of the cause is temporarily blocked, and in order to block the substance of the effect, it is said, "Made by it," etc., the qualities are form, etc., and the limbs are threads, etc.
