Just those two, the place or the consciousness of the place is unseen, thus it abides. Therefore, it is not to be proven that things do not exist, because only the direct perception of holding a place devoid of a vase is established. The name of the non-existence of things, for the ignorant, is to be proven by not seeing, because in this way, some ignorant people do not see the qualities known as cold, such as dust, etc., although the name of non-existence is added, but due to being accustomed to their own tenets, they say again that everything exists everywhere. In some places, etc., even if there is a situation of not seeing the vase, the name of non-existence is not used, so there are three kinds of unseen names, namely the bodily language of unnecessary going and coming, and the verbal language of "there is no vase here," and the mental language of just such an inner expression. The unseen is to be proven together with the side of the law of karma, and the characteristic of its nature is to be understood as related, and for the side of the law of the agent, it arises from that, so the place devoid of a vase or the consciousness of the place is called unseen. The very ability to be a name of non-existence and its nature, that is, consciousness is the fruit of the place. So, if for the unseen, there is only a relationship with its own nature and what arises from it, then how is the unseen named from the fruit and nature? It is different for proving negation, but not for things. As the scholar said: "Here, two are proving things, and one is the reason for negation." With the difference transformed by the characteristic of what is seen, in terms of object, even if there are kalpas of not seeing Mount Sumeru, etc., in terms of time, even if there are kalpas of not seeing the time of the wheel-turning king that will appear, etc., in terms of nature, even if there are kalpas of not seeing meat-eaters, etc., it will not be said to be non-existent. This unseen is a measure for the present time, and if there is particularly mindfulness, it is also for the past time, and for the future time, the unseen itself is also doubt.

Because it is the nature of eating, therefore it is not a valid cognition. The logicians said: The non-apprehension is the opposite of the direct perception of the past and present cognizers whose memory is not diminished, and it establishes the term 'non-existence.' Among them, when the object to be negated becomes an impermissible object due to its longevity, then the perceptible non-apprehension cannot be directly expressed, so the non-apprehension of the result and so on should be well combined. Therefore, this becomes sixteen types due to the difference in combination. Among them, the non-apprehension of the nature, for example: There is no smoke here, because the characteristic of being visible is not apprehended. The nature of the smoke to be negated, this is not apprehended here. The non-apprehension of the result, for example: There is no cause of smoke here, the unobstructed power, etc., because there is no smoke. The result of the causes of smoke to be negated is smoke, which is not apprehended here. The non-apprehension of the cause, for example: There is no smoke here, because there is no fire. The cause of smoke to be negated does not exist, which is not apprehended here.
