It makes one apprehend the nature of [both] as common. This reason is not unestablished, because it is established by experiencing that the common nature of both conceptual cognitions is the object. The reason for apprehending as common in the way previously explained is that it is certain that reversion to one is definitely necessary. This is not without reason, because other reasons are not seen. If one enters into the dissimilar side, then there will be no reason to differentiate, because the pervader is not seen, so when reverting from the dissimilar side, apprehending as common abides at the ultimate end of reverting to one, therefore the pervasion is established. Furthermore, how can conceptual cognition, which shows the nature of untruth, universally show external things as similar? Because the two are extremely dissimilar dharmas. Therefore, if one clings to its nature as reverting from others, then conceptual cognition will universally show external things as similar. If one apprehends the nature of something that is extremely dissimilar, then one is definitely taking as important the apprehension of similarity caused by turning away from others. For example, although woolen cloth and a vase are extremely dissimilar, if one definitely understands that it is a distinction of not being wood, then one will definitely understand that it is similar to a vase, saying, "This is also not wood, this is also not wood." Likewise, although the meaning of conceptual cognition is extremely dissimilar to external things, one will also definitely understand that it is an external thing. That conceptual cognition definitely determines external things is also established by experience. Apprehending something non-existent as external is not without reason, because there is no other reason, as explained before. Therefore, if one apprehends as reverting from others, since the pervader has no reason to differentiate, therefore when the apprehension of external things reverts, since it is caused by reverting from others, the apprehension abides in the external thing itself, therefore the pervasion is established. Furthermore, if someone who says, "Conceptual cognition is meaning" in the way of establishing, clearly says, "Conceptual cognition must indirectly determine reverting from others," that is unreasonable. Because at the time of realizing that oneness is established, if one does not realize that it reverts from other things, then the way of establishing...
